General Description
You will be part of The Why’s young and passionate team working to create an extensive global campaign on plastic pollution. The Why creates media campaigns on pressing social and environmental issues by producing and distributing documentary films, short films, interviews and more. This year, we are launching 3 ground-breaking documentary films about plastic, documenting the recycling industry and waste trade, environmental pollution and its health consequences, and the lobbyism and profits behind plastic production.
You will support The Why’s team in creating an awareness campaign around the films and engaging the general public in the topic of plastic pollution. As part of the campaign, we are in the process of creating a network of youth-led environmental organisations that will lead the campaign in the Nordic countries. You will support The Why’s team in shaping and creating this network and the campaign. You will be responsible for researching and establishing partnerships with environmental organisations and individual activists as well as conceptualise and organise activities in Denmark and abroad.
Responsibilities
1. Outreach; liaise with environmental organisations, advocacies, individual activists, cultural and educational institutions and other relevant organizations to create impact campaigns and activities such as screenings, exhibitions, debates, workshops and more.
2. Communication: write engaging posts on plastic and create captivating graphics and visual material for our communication channels.
3. Fundraising: research funding opportunities in DK and abroad, assess eligibility and assist with funding applications.
4. Project and Event Coordination: supporting The Why and our partners in the planning and execution of events in DK and abroad.
Knowledge/Skills/ Experience
1. Good knowledge and interest in campaigning for the environment.
2. Experience working with campaigns is a bonus.
3. Up-to-date with current affairs and political developments worldwide, especially green politics and environmental movements.
4. Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal (Danish and other Nordic languages would be a bonus)
5. Comfortable liaising with multiple stakeholders independently
6. Highly organized and excellent attention to detail
7. Experience with Excel and the Microsoft Office package
8. Experience with Adobe Indesign, PhotoShop or PremierePro is a bonus
The Internship is unpaid and full time for 5 months, starting 1. February 2021. We are located at the Danish Film Institute, right above Cinemateket, overlooking Kongens Have. Lunch and coffee/tee is provided daily.
