Experienced Software Architect

Salary Competitive

Why we need you

Energy Machines is expanding into new areas, and in a new partnership with a major international SW company, we are assembling the best in the SW field to work with already signed up customers. You will be part of this agile and nimble small team of specialists, with full authority over the projects, but still able to access the technical backing and support of a partnering organization we co-operate with, with more than 1000 employees and beyond 30 years on the road.

It's the best of both worlds: you work for a nimble and agile startup, but with direct help and open resources of a well stablished and solid structured partnered big company!

The job

We are looking for an innovative and experienced SW Architect to design SW modernization and migration solutions and strategies, acting as a bridge between our customers and the programmers coding these solutions. You will not be doing any of the coding yourself, nor micro-manage the tasks or the programmers. You will instead be selecting the already existing blocks that can be re-used, re-purposed or purchased, and the new ones that must be custom made and all the details that ensure a seamless integration of these. You love interconnecting block diagrams and understand how important it is to have customer requirements written as precise as possible. To. the. very. last. dot.

The job requires someone broad and wise, rather than a specialist in a single field or a single programming language.

You have/can do

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in IT, CS, SW engineering, or similar

  • Must: proven minimum 5 years experience in SW engineering + 3 years specifically in SW architecture design.

If you do not have such experience, please look at our other positions available instead...

  • Must: Experience developing or designing complex SW, running on multiple Operating systems, particularly non MS Windows. Experience in more OSes than Linux is a plus+

If you do not have experience in other than MS Windows, please look at our other positions available instead...

  • Versed in a variety of programming languages, middlewares and databases. Both proprietary as well as Open source. The same way that a maestro knows how to play some of each musical instrument type...

  • Previous experience with SW migration & legacy codebase maintenance is a plus+

  • Because you will act in direct connection with project managers, SW team leads and customer's technology managers, previous experience in any of these 3 positions is a plus+

  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must

  • Additional Fluency in other major European languages is a merit

This is you

  • Open minded and ready to think out of the box.

  • Good at listening and seeing someone else's perspective, and equally excel in explaining technical details to highly experienced, technical and hands on developers as well as to non technical managers and sales teams

  • You use clear and precise language, you take responsibility for your choices and solutions, you rise to the occasion and you inspire and lead people when needed.

  • Eager to learn new things, read about new technologies and associated trade-offs. You are flexible and embrace changes. You always keep an eye on the emerging and the new, and what the cool kids on the block are playing with these days

  • Meticulous person, with attention to details and an eye for foreseeing difficult areas in a project. You have for instance noticed that only every second sentence in this list has a period ".".

You deserve

  • Awesome office locations! No, really, check out the pictures below!

  • Work from home and/or flexible schedule, in case you get bored of the harbour views...

  • A flat and informal, fast growing, start-up minded company: with easy and direct access to management and colleagues. Proof? You will not be interviewed by HR managers but by tech people just like you!

  • Highly skilled and friendly colleagues, from many different countries and cultures, with different native languages, different fields of study. Equal opportunity employer in practice!

  • You will get a helping hand from the best in their field, from compiler developers to conference speakers.

  • Competitive salaries, Lots of office perks. Did I mention Friday beers?

  • If you want, you get to travel to other countries for training and/or relocation. Yes, costs are on us.
