Kaffe Bueno is an ingredients company using green chemistry and biotechnology to upcycle coffee's by-product into ingredients for cosmetics, nutraceuticals and functional foods. Our mission is to unlock coffee's health potential where harmful emissions are minimised and coffee’s by-product usability is maximised Our vision is to transform the way people perceive coffee; to look at it as a magical bean with the potential of improving human health by using what lies inside it. The job is initially meant for 3 months and can become permanent aftewards. The main tasks will be in helping our current Bioprocess engineer in operating the R&D plant we currently have at our locations and aid on the scale up.
We are looking for an experienced biochemical / process engineer to join us in this journey. Ideally He/Her should have experience in green chemistry and biotechnological process and downstreaming/purification methods from lab to industrial scale ideally within the cosmetics, nutraceuticals or food industries. Experience and skills are important but a intelectual curiosity and a positive and willing attitude is a must. You should be able to be comfortable to handle and work with unknown variables as this routine part of startup life:)

Knowledge, Skills and/or Experience Required. At least 4 years of experience within food, nutraceuticals or cosmetics industries with one or several of these skills:
- White Biotechnology, Biorefineries, Scaling-up Bioprocesses
- Operation of a pilot plant facility for the optimization of biotechnological and green chemistry processes
-Extraction and purification of medicinal botanical extracts
- Teamwork and project management skills
-Solvent Extractions, Hydrolyses, Fermentations (batch / fed-batch), physical separations, membranes, CrossFlow filtrations, resins, chromatography, concentration, Spray drying, freeze drying
-Expertise in downstream and upstream unit operations, covering process development, technology transfer, troubleshooting, process analysis, optimization, cost reduction and upscaling
Is a plus if you know how to: Chromatography (HPLC, HPTLC, GPC, TLC). Microbiology. Physical and chemical food analyzes. Development of analytical methods. Structural determination (RMN)
