We are looking to secure a Director of Engineering to lead our software development and QA teams in Copenhagen.

With overall line management of a team of c.40 people with around 10 direct reports, and reporting to the CTO, this person will be responsible for growing and retaining a highly skilled and highly motivated software development and test team. Working closely with architecture, team agile and product, they will work to continuously improve the software delivery processes, optimising for speed and quality.

Requirements:

  • Line management of a large team based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

  • Grow and retain a skilled team, leading resourcing and recruitment, supporting career development and building and promoting a positive and motivating working environment.

  • Working closely with Team Agile to define and embed ways effective ways of working; continually evolving and optimising.

  • Develop manual and automated testing initiatives using a combination of process, people, and effective testing methodologies

  • Set expectations for Technical Leads, Developers, QA and test automation engineers

  • Provide guidance and leadership in the development of hard and soft skills

  • Develop and maintain a programme of technical training, including online, internal, external, conferences and informal knowledge sharing.

  • Facilitate and support regular meetings, meet-ups, and knowledge leadership sessions internally, and externally in the tech community.

  • Manage the cost, licensing and use of engineer-specific platforms and tools to support development, test and delivery.

  • Manage the relationship and the performance of contractors and vendors.

  • Manage the relationship with academia, in particular interims, undergraduate and postgraduate initiatives and sponsorships.

  • Help to motivate teams, to provide an appropriate environment to maximise focus , happiness and productivity.

  • Support the CTO in managing Product Engineering financials; planning and budgeting, cost tracking and salary reviews.

  • Support the CTO in modelling engineering capacity and rationalizing the financial implications required to achieve growth targets.
