Gate2Horizon is a new company, which leverages the experience of its employees in the domain of so-called "exploitation of project results" in large EU-funded Research & Innovation projects (under the Horizon Europe - Pillar II funding programme). We work across diverse sectors such as Bioeconomy, Circular Economy, Mining, Aquaculture, and Health Policy. As part of the consortium in the EU projects, we assist project partners in the exploitation of their project results with a hands-on approach and tools to make sure the results coming out of the project are "exploited" at the end of the project's lifetime, that is "made us of to tackle societal problems, in policymaking or for commercial purposes". WHAT ARE WE DOING? We are creating a revolutionary device for detecting airborne viruses from the air and a platform allowing for visualisations and real time notifications about outbreaks. We create a much cheaper and faster detection to not let the COVID-19 events happen again. We decrease the time of outbreak detection >30 times and detection price >10 times. WHY ARE WE DOING IT? In recent years there have been a rapid advancement in SynBio that outpaces the regulatory and monitoring frameworks. This leads to inability of implementation of clear safety rules for virus research and national security which in turn poses a large threat of uncontrolled and/or accidental misuse of pathogens. We lack of necessary tools to predict and manage virus outbreaks and information.
