Lapee, the female urinal. “Lapee gives women and people who need to pee squatting a quick, safe and hygienic way out.” Urinals for men have been around for a long time, but women and people who need to pee squatting have been long overlooked. For them the need to relieve themselves in public, at events or at festivals always comes with great difficulty. The lines for closed toilet cabins are always long and only two other options present themselves: going without peeing or finding an improvised and unsafe place to pee. Both are highly problematic and degrading. Lapee is a simple solution to a long standing example of gender inequality; Lapee gives women and people who need to pee squatting a quick, safe and hygienic way out. Behind this idea of developing peeing equality are Gina (FR) and Alexander (DK), two architects who graduated from the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen in Spring, 2017. They were working as architects for the famous Roskilde Festival when they thought and developed Lapee. Today, Lapee is available for rent in 20 countries through 30 partners. Join the movement!

At Nextfood, we are reshaping the plant-based food supply chain from farm to fork with large scale indoor farms combined with mini-farms in restaurants, catering, retail etc. Our computer controlled decentralised farm network grows deliciously fresh, locally produced, pesticide-free greens year-round to the benefit of flavour, health and climate. 1 m2 Nextfood farm corresponds to 200 m2 outdoor farm land and saves 98% water, more than 75% fertiliser and electrifies energy consumption. In turn addressing one of humanity’s greatest challenges: A sustainable high quality food supply for a rapidly growing urbanised population.

Leftovers is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting home cooks with neighbours who want affordable, authentic, home-cooked meals, starting in Copenhagen. We all know how expensive eating out in Denmark can be. And cooking takes time and skill most people don't have. The result? Overpriced delivery, repetitive convenience food, inefficiency and waste. Meanwhile, thousands of skilled home cooks (food influencers, aspiring chefs, international residents cooking family recipes) have excess capacity and no easy way to monetise or share it. Leftovers closes that gap. Through the Leftovers app (live on iOS and Android), neighbours browse daily home-cooked meals from local cooks, order affordable portions (50–100 DKK), and collect locally. Cooks get flexible, high-margin income and a micro-brand for their cuisine. Customers get real food, at fair prices, with zero cooking required. All while building community and addressing waste. We've just launched a Kickstarter pilot in partnership with CBS Housing (Copenhagen Business School's student residences) and are actively securing further co-living and student housing partnerships to validate and grow the model. Denmark's regulatory environment for small-scale home food sales makes it feasible. I noticed the opportunity while living in a student dorm in Copenhagen last year, where I was constantly choosing between expensive takeaway and my own basic cooking, while talented students across the hallway were cooking incredible family recipes every day. We tried sharing food amongst ourselves, and it worked. Surveys across students, young professionals, and families confirmed the need. I've since come across many examples of successful local food sharing initiatives, but no platform that coordinates it. Leftovers isn't just a platform for sharing home-cooked meals. It unlocks idle kitchen capacity, empowers home cooks, makes food more affordable, improves access to authentic local produce, fights waste, and helps build local community. The long-term vision is city-by-city expansion across Denmark, Scandinavia and Europe, where local food regulations make sense. I'm now looking for a co-founder with a passion for community-building and marketing to help turn early traction into a movement. Equity on the table. This problem reaches beyond developing countries; in Denmark, 90% of first-time childbirths will lead to ruptures. Women suffering from ruptures experience incontinence, pain during intercourse, prolapsed uterus, amongst other issues requiring medical support, and generally see a huge impact on their quality of life. Complications cost healthcare systems billions every year, even without calculating aftercare to treat side effects and further complications. We have developed a game-changing birth rupture prevention technology that supports midwives and health workers in their efforts to protect the vulnerable perineal area and reduce birth ruptures. It is a medical device that is applied in the pushing phase of labour, providing protection of the perineal wall and dampening the stress on the skin.
