Calibre Social

WHAT_ Calibre is a social platform that connects people through shared passions and turns those connections into real, in-person experiences. We reduce the friction of meeting new people and make it easier to build meaningful platonic relationships — whether that means deepening existing friendships or discovering new IRL experiences and activities. We partner with local experience-economy businesses to host the meetups our matches lead to. TEAM_ We're a small, committed team based in Copenhagen. Ather Nawaz and Adam Isaac are building Calibre full-time, with backgrounds spanning Computer Science and Data Science, and a shared curiosity for ethically applied psychology in digital products. We're actively looking for a technical co-founder (full-stack) to join us as we take the product from prototype to launch. WHY_ The SDG target we're focused on is loneliness — a factor in life expectancy second only to smoking. It's a pressing issue for everyone, but especially for young people, who are facing rising rates of anxiety, depression and eating disorders. Research (Holt-Lunstad et al., 2010; Holt-Lunstad et al., 2017) shows that lacking social connection carries health risks comparable to — and in many cases exceeding — smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day, obesity, physical inactivity, and air pollution. Everyone should have access to fewer experiences of loneliness and more highly personal, memorable social experiences. Calibre fosters meaningful platonic friendships and real-life memories, making IRL social connection more accessible. HOW_ We're building Calibre so that IRL activities are as accessible as possible — deliberately not following the "doomscrolling" business model common in social networking. We're currently developing our MVP with a clear mission and a critical technical practice (CTP) mindset, working closely with small experience-economy businesses in Copenhagen to design the ideal platform for connection-driven meetups. For our SME partners, Calibre offers a more effective way to reach and retain customers than the e-commerce-optimized tools currently on the market — built specifically around the real, personal, immaterial value that IRL businesses provide. Leftovers

Leftovers is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting home cooks with neighbours who want affordable, authentic, home-cooked meals, starting in Copenhagen. We all know how expensive eating out in Denmark can be. And cooking takes time and skill most people don't have. The result? Overpriced delivery, repetitive convenience food, inefficiency and waste. Meanwhile, thousands of skilled home cooks (food influencers, aspiring chefs, international residents cooking family recipes) have excess capacity and no easy way to monetise or share it. Leftovers closes that gap. Through the Leftovers app (live on iOS and Android), neighbours browse daily home-cooked meals from local cooks, order affordable portions (50–100 DKK), and collect locally. Cooks get flexible, high-margin income and a micro-brand for their cuisine. Customers get real food, at fair prices, with zero cooking required. All while building community and addressing waste. We've just launched a Kickstarter pilot in partnership with CBS Housing (Copenhagen Business School's student residences) and are actively securing further co-living and student housing partnerships to validate and grow the model. Denmark's regulatory environment for small-scale home food sales makes it feasible. I noticed the opportunity while living in a student dorm in Copenhagen last year, where I was constantly choosing between expensive takeaway and my own basic cooking, while talented students across the hallway were cooking incredible family recipes every day. We tried sharing food amongst ourselves, and it worked. Surveys across students, young professionals, and families confirmed the need. I've since come across many examples of successful local food sharing initiatives, but no platform that coordinates it. Leftovers isn't just a platform for sharing home-cooked meals. It unlocks idle kitchen capacity, empowers home cooks, makes food more affordable, improves access to authentic local produce, fights waste, and helps build local community. The long-term vision is city-by-city expansion across Denmark, Scandinavia and Europe, where local food regulations make sense. I'm now looking for a co-founder with a passion for community-building and marketing to help turn early traction into a movement. Equity on the table. Because sharing tastes better. leftovers.food admin@leftovers.food @leftovers.cph

Keybird Instruments

Keybird Instruments is developing a lightweight acoustic piano to help piano enthusiasts play with their preferred sound (acoustic) with practicality and price comparable to that of digital pianos. Over 75% of piano players prefer an acoustic sound, yet most play digital because of price, size, and weight. We want to combine the best of both worlds. We can offer an acoustic piano that weighs only 43+ 16 kg, while only occupying half a square meter of valuable living space. It can be transported in normal cars. The first model has a slightly reduced amount of keys (just like many digital keyboards) having all the keys for pop and jazz but also most of the classical music for the first five years in music school. We thus have a strong focus on sound quality, rather than loudness, and we can reach the low price due to automated production in the worlds largest factory. We started this because we needed it for ourselves and saw the need for others. We asked all the piano enthusiasts we could reach and get the interest in our product confirmed. The huge market of acoustic and digital piano (we combine the benefits) is what keeps us on pace to provide an excellent alternative to digital piano's, which often get boring in the long run (We're just sharing our customer insights here ;)

SubBook

The Solution to Our Time’s Flood of Pictures Lies in Photo Books. We are living in a time where we take more pictures than ever before. However, it is also a time where we no longer have them developed or spend time looking at them together. This has the team behind the Danish company SubBook come up with a solution to. They have made it easy to get the photo books back in the living rooms, so that friends and family can gather around the pictures and look back at all of their greatest memories together. And now they are expanding to the international market. The team has developed a photo book app called SubBook, which allows users to collect pictures from both Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, and the iPhone camera roll to make simple photo books as easy as possible. They have made it with a particular focus on a user-friendly experience, so that people can both create and order their photo books while grocery shopping or in the bus on the way home from work. Because the team would like to spread the joy of perpetuated memories and the possibility to make simple, personalized, and cheap photo books to even more people, they now have entered the international market. In doing so they have also launched their website and app in English versions, while their photo books are delivered to all of Europe. With a sustainable aim. As the team wishes to give something back to the resources they use in their production, SubBook has joined in with the organization One Tree Planted. This collaboration means that a tree is planted every time a customer orders three books using the SubBook app. The team care a great deal about the traces they leave on our Earth and because of this, they only use paper qualities complying with international environmental requirements. This also means that their customers can order books with a clean and green conscience. For now, the SubBook app only works with iPhones, but as a part of their international launch the team is working tirelessly on developing an app for Android users, so that many more can join in on getting pictures out of the phones and into the photo books.
