We are a subscription-based journalistic media outlet that works uncompromisingly to uncover important stories, expose abuses of power, and set agendas that would otherwise be overlooked—always with the individual citizen and society as a whole in mind. We are not friends with anyone, and we reject media subsidies and advertisers, making us accountable only to our subscribers. Only in this way can we produce completely independent, critical journalism for the benefit of both the individual citizen and society as a whole. We were founded in June 2021 by, among others, Mads Brügger, and we currently operate in Denmark and the Faroe Islands, where we publish articles and podcasts on our own platforms (web and app), as well as on social media and via newsletters. In both countries, we have experienced significant growth in the number of paying members.

ÅBEN was founded in 2017 in Kolding, where it began as a brewery at the childhood farm of Philip Hulgaard. What started as a hobby alongside a full-time job has since grown into a passion and a way of life. After opening its doors on June 9th, 2017, things moved quickly. ÅBEN was named Brewery of the Year in 2019, marking the beginning of an exciting journey. Since then, ÅBEN has created the electronic music festival O Days, founded the beer festival Kalas, and opened bars in Aarhus, Kødbyen, Roskilde, Copenhagen Airport, Carlsberg Byen, and Nordhavn - with more to come. ÅBEN’s first beer, which has since turned into a signature beer, is called Bryg 61 (Brew 61), named after the number of attempts it took to get the recipe exactly right. Today, ÅBEN produces new beers every month which has led to an archive of more than 400 beers, spanning wide from generously hopped IPA’s, and full-bodied imperial stouts to a wide selection of distinctive sours. Most recently, ÅBEN entered the world of non-alcoholic brewing, with the first beer in the series - Y - winning Best Non-Alcoholic Beer in Denmark 2025, and with two more beers in the series on their way. We are a non-profit organization that helps abandoned and neglected dogs find new loving homes in Denmark. We collaborate with dog rescue centers in Italy and promote adoptable dogs through our website where it is possible for danish residents to apply to adopt a specific dog. The adoption process is designed to help us find the best adopters for our dogs and inform and educate the applicant about what responsibility it entails to adopt a shelter dog. In collaboration with the rescue center, we match the approved applicants with the dogs. We fight to find a loving home for every single one of our dogs and we wish to create the best possible conditions to make sure that the adoption is successful for both the dog and the adopter. Each dog's background is different but it is not uncommon that they have had a hard life. For this reason, we do extensive health examinations of each dog and they will go through a socialization program before arriving in Denmark. The socialization program is tailored to the dog and the adopter and is created to teach the dog to become a family dog. After the dog's arrival, we continue to follow the development of the dog, and we are always available to provide guidance and support to our adopters.
