Maritime Stars is an accelerator program for Danish startups with innovative solutions for the maritime industry. Each year, the maritime industry selects ten of Denmark's best startups, which pitch their businesses for a chance to join the program. With only five available spots, only the five highest-rated startups among the ten pitching candidates are admitted to Maritime Stars each year. The pitch event will take place on June 11 in Aalborg.Since the industry itself decides, based on the pitches on the day of the event, which five startups will join this year's cohort, applicants only need to complete a short application form in advance to be considered among the ten startups selected to pitch. My name is Steven John Widecrantz. I am a Urologist at Sealand University Hospital in Roskilde Denmark. For 16 years I have been treating Kidney Cancer Patients, but in recent years I have also been in charge of postoperative complications and seriously ill patients in my department and lately also in the treatment of Corona-patients. In this capacity, I have encountered patients so weakened by months of inactivity in bed, that former healthy patients couldn’t stand on their own feet or even sit up by means of their own. They had an immense loss of muscle-mass and the malnutrition even affected their brain function. Training and mobilizing these patients is difficult and time consuming. To overcome some of these obstacles I invented the “Dr. Stevens Pillow”-system. It is made up of a system of pillows with different resistance, carefully selected in collaboration with experienced physiotherapists to meet the requirements at the different stages of the patients recovery. The pillow is placed in the foot end of the patients bed and the patient, the staff and the patients family are instructed in different exercises by the physiotherapist. The pillow can then be placed in the bed by the patient, the staff or by the family whenever the patient feels like training or when encouraged to do so, supplementing the daily training by the physiotherapist. The pillows will, with the right instruction, strengthen the patients foot-, calf- and thigh-muscles, and it will strengthen the buttocks, the stomach-muscles and the back-muscles. Secondary to strengthening the muscles, the training improves blood circulation thereby improving muscle-nutrition, wound-healing and the heart. Training also aids in prevention of blood-clots. Lung function is improved, lung problems prevented, and more oxygen provided to the bloodstream. Bedsores will also be prevented or healing improved. The patients appetite is improved providing building materials for muscles and healing, and nausea is prevented. Psychologically the patient is strengthened by being activated opposed to lying inactive in bed all day. The possibility to influence their own recovery will motivate the patients to train more. When the patient is exhausted, the pillow is just removed, and the patient can rest. The pillows are made of durable materials that can withstand daily use, and the fabric is hospital standard and easy to wash and disinfect for use for the next patient. No handles are added to ensure easy and safe cleaning. The weight makes them easy to transport. The pillows come in four different colors: Green for the weakest patients. Blue for patients that can sit, but not stand. Red for patients that can stand with the help of a roller. Black for patients that are able to walk a few steps, but still need to build strength. The Black pillow can even be used at home, where it can also be used as a step-machine, a training bench and much more. The size make it easy to store in a wardrobe. The “Dr. Stevens Pillow”-system is so simple to use, inexpensive and versatile, that it can be used in almost any setting: Hospitals around the world, Refugee-camps, Retirement-homes, Hospices etc.

The corner stone in this work is the website and blog 20skridt.dk and several online courses. 20 Skridts weekly mailing list, Søndagslisten, currently (summer 2021) has more than 3,500 subscribers. 20 Skridt is owned by Danish author Ole Ditlev Nielsen who works with a small team of freelancers. He has written several textbooks on teaching, pedagogy, stress management and slow living. Airplant ApS develops innovative and effective solutions to improve the air quality in office settings. Airplant increases the effect of nature's ability to purify and humidify air by combining plants and technology. 20-40 % of office workers experience dry indoor air. The feeling is triggered by dry air or chemicals which cause general discomfort. As you may know, plants reduce chemicals and humidify air. The Airplant system boosts the plant's natural way of working, and an airflow expands the treated area so that one single plant has the effect of 10 plants, corresponding to or better than comparable machines. Ventilation systems switch indoor air with fresh air. But fresh outdoor air is dry during the entire flu season so the Airplant system will humidify the fresh air and also reduce the amount of harmful chemicals. COBO Technologies is a fast-growing start-up company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, that specializes in products and services for Quality Control (QC) of CRISPR modified cells and animals. The team behind COBO comes from senior positions in science, commercial and operation, with more than 10 years experience in the CRISPR field. Within the last 5 years, the CRISPR field has developed from more than 100 publications per year to now more than 5,000 publications per year and the number of ongoing clinical trials using a CRISPR tool is now more than 60. In 2020 two CRISPR scientists received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their CRISPR inventions, proving that this is a fast-growing field which is now moving from research to clinics. In consequence, there is a need for platforms that can support efficient QC of CRISPR cells. In more general terms, there is a need to understand what are the safety effects of altering DNA with CRISPR — hitting the right target gene, checking how efficient the DNA change is, and investigating other DNA changes that were not expected. Most of the solutions offered today for cell/DNA analysis are not developed specifically for CRISPR applications. They are expensive, lack sensitivity and are time-consuming and they are done by service companies with no/or little knowledge about CRISPR. Based on our experience from the CRISPR field and feedback from our network in the EU and US, we have developed proprietary platforms that can support the current needs for QC of CRISPR cells. Including both proven reagents for sample preparation, cell analysis and bioinformatics, this is the first full-package solution developed specifically for CRISPR clients. In addition, it combines low cost, high sensitivity and fast delivery time - 3 factors essential for our clients. We have used the past year to build up a scalable operation in Denmark in a low-risk setup and are now ready to speed up the growth first in the EU and then later 2021 in the US. In addition, we will also start the initial preparation of our first development project for a clinical application at the end of 2021. Since the start 2018, COBO has supported more than 15 clients in both EU and US, including leading pharma companies and some of the leading universities in the world. We have developed unique platforms, we have clients every week, we have the network and we have the skills to be a major player in the global CRISPR field and be part of the development of future CRISPR Medicine to treat genetic diseases. Membantu is one of the leading companies in Denmark helping babies with sleep because sleep is so incredibly important to the little ones. The large amount of sleep is crucial for normal growth and development, as the brain, during sleep, i.a. processes sensory impressions. Membantu develops and sells various products including baby wraps and cradle motors that can hopefully help many small babies get the right amount of sleep. Membantu was founded in 2017 by Stephanie and Eva, who both experienced a great need for an extra set of hands in their children's first years of life.
