Airlabs is an organisation with foundations in atmospheric chemistry and airflow engineering that has been established out of a desire to tackle the huge social problem of air quality in cities across the world. Our work is the result of active collaboration between our team and some of the world’s leading applied environmental research and engineering institutes. Our team brings together experts from widely varying disciplines: from atmospheric chemistry to pollution monitoring, from fluid dynamics to environmental health and from economics to engineering and design.

Our first product, Behold Cam-1, became a massive success on Kickstarter – hitting its funding goal in under 2 hours, and raising almost $400k in pre-orders. Based in Aarhus, Denmark, we are a Venture Lab for hard things, worth doing. Contrary to what many may think, the technological progress has stagnated for nearly four decades. We extend the conventional 10-year venture capital horizon, allowing for the maturation of technologies and customer demand. We focus specifically the hard sciences: physics, chemistry and their derived engineering disciplines. We are devoted to accelerating the development and adoption of technologies that can help fight climate change by actively removing CO2 from the atmosphere. The challenge We are emitting 50 Gigatons of CO2 every year, and that needs to be reduced by at least 80%. However, that still leaves 10 Gigatons of CO2, and we need to get all the way to zero. Trees are great, but we need many more solutions as well if we are to get to zero. Currently, most of these are way too expensive (and limited in capacity) for companies to use.
