Green Island

Green Island is supplying underserved communities with fossil free utility solutions, providing people with not only power, water, heating, and circular waste management, but also local ownership of a future proof source of revenue to help the community transition and develop. Green Island accelerates onboarding and community organizing, project development, data-based risk mitigation, and access to financing. We enter into a long-term relationship with the community doing remote monitoring of the community's new utility solution and managing digital billing of consumers.

Aeromine Technologies

Do innovative, sustainable energy solutions inspire you? Do you want to help fight climate change and work with some of the largest and most ambitious clients in the world? Aeromine Technologies had developed a novel, building integrated “wind turbine” for industrial/commercial use. Aeromines have no visible rotating parts which make them ideal for root top installation as they make no noise and no vibrations. We have received more than 100.00 customer inquiries over the past year, and our innovative solution was selected by TIME Magazine as one of the best global innovations in 2022.

Cirqle

Plastic waste and single-use packaging is one of the great unsolved problems for our planet. In Denmark, we produce 844KG of household waste annually per person. Most of this packaging is used for food and beverage products and it is an increasingly large environmental challenge. At Cirqle we are driven by our mission to make single-use a thing of the past and make reuse packaging the norm. Reusing packaging reduces the impact, and greatly minimizes the natural resource use of packaging. With our pioneering reuse packaging service and technology platform, we make reuse a reality for companies in the food and beverage industry. We are already breaking new ground with our meal-kit service, but the sky's the limit when it comes to reuse packaging. With partners we cover the full supply chain from packaging production and software development to sanitation and logistics making sustainability the easy choice for our customers.

Buildcode

Buildcode is an entrepreneurial eng. company specialized in developing systems for optimizing quality assurance in the construction industry. Our solution SiteMotionis based on day-to-day registrations done with drone and scanning technologies for recording and processing the data related to building informatics that enable to: - minimize errors and deficiencies on the construction site, - improve communication during the construction process,- enhance the overall quality of the building. We have a lot of fun! We work hard to learn and achieve and we face every problem with a solution. You will have the opportunity to get free coffee every day, and Buildcode will provide fresh fruit once a week. We go to lunch around 12:00 pm, you can bring your own food our eat for free at the canteen. We’re placed in two different groups: Our Technical Department and our Marketing/Sales and HR Department. But that’s only where we sit, we work crosswise all-day long.

Unbelievable Labs

Based in Aarhus, Denmark, we are a Venture Lab for hard things, worth doing. Contrary to what many may think, the technological progress has stagnated for nearly four decades. Enabling and fundamental innovations such as the practical use of electricity, the telecommunications infrastructure, automatic computing, automotive transportation, heavier than air flight, genomics, and many other examples, all arose prior to the 1970s. What we have witnessed as progress within a generation is largely the application of these technologies in increasingly refined solutions. The latest wave of “softwaretization”, have increased operational efficiencies in multiple industries but also offset culturally and personal demand for tangible products and interactions, by web and app-based experiences. Our core thesis revolves around overcoming challenges in commercialization of scientific breakthroughs by providing the facility between scientists and entrepreneurs. We extend the conventional 10-year venture capital horizon, allowing for the maturation of technologies and customer demand. We focus specifically the hard sciences: physics, chemistry and their derived engineering disciplines. The markets and industries we work with are: - Military and Defense - Energy systems - Sustainable Resource Extraction - Access to space and ocean - Autonomous systems - AI for physical applications - Meta-materials and composites. Paint'R

In the European Union alone, more than 1.5 million paint buckets are discarded daily, constituting a disposal of 340 tons of single-use plastic that is incinerated each day. Starting from early 2023 (2025 in Denmark and Slovenia), manufacturers are obligated to cover the disposal costs of their packaging based on sustainability criteria. In Denmark, this translates to an estimated 15% fee on paint buckets. Furthermore, the conventional round shape of packaging has proven suboptimal for logistics and transportation. Beyond its environmental impact, the traditional paint bucket poses challenges for professional painters. These challenges encompass ergonomic issues during handling, such as the strain of lifting two buckets simultaneously, which exceeds recommended weight limits according to the Working Environment Authority. Painters also find themselves in awkward positions when pouring paint into a roller bucket for wall application. The demanding physical nature of the painting profession in Denmark results in accelerated fatigue and early retirement for painters. Additionally, issues like lid leakage due to dried paint and the use of fragile, porous plastic contribute to unexpected spills, particularly during abrupt vehicle stops. Our innovative solution involves a cardboard box housing two patent-pending plastic bags, each containing 5 liters of paint. This packaging not only enhances the workflow for professional painters but also reduces costs and lowers carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by approximately 65% per unit. The box's design facilitates easy and ergonomic transportation, allowing for a 45% increase in units per pallet. The box is opened, and one of the bags is inserted into a standard roller bucket used by painters. The bag effortlessly opens and seamlessly fits into the roller bucket, wrapping around the edges, and enabling the painter to begin work promptly. This functionality is made possible through an innovative patented design and specific plastic welding techniques.

Agoprene AS

Agoprene is a biotech startup based in Oslo and Copenhagen. Agoprene is developing furniture foam from biomass to help the furniture industry reduce their need for petrochemicals. ​ Globally, furniture foam, which is derived from petroleum, accounts for 105 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. One armchair for example, emits an average of 43 kg CO2e, almost half of which is due to furniture foam. ​ Agoprene's foam is completely free of petrochemicals. We believe finding planet-friendly alternatives isn’t a challenge; it’s an opportunity.

Coastgrass

At Coastgrass we have developed a sustainable replacement to crude oil-based plastic materials. By collecting and upcycling eelgrass from the Danish beaches we can offer a variety of different polymer compounds with a much lower carbon footprint than traditional plastic materials. We believe in using renewable natural resources to create climate-friendly solutions, so that we ensure a sustainable future.
