In the European Union alone, more than 1.5 million paint buckets are discarded daily, constituting a disposal of 340 tons of single-use plastic that is incinerated each day. Starting from early 2023 (2025 in Denmark and Slovenia), manufacturers are obligated to cover the disposal costs of their packaging based on sustainability criteria. In Denmark, this translates to an estimated 15% fee on paint buckets. Furthermore, the conventional round shape of packaging has proven suboptimal for logistics and transportation. Beyond its environmental impact, the traditional paint bucket poses challenges for professional painters. These challenges encompass ergonomic issues during handling, such as the strain of lifting two buckets simultaneously, which exceeds recommended weight limits according to the Working Environment Authority. Painters also find themselves in awkward positions when pouring paint into a roller bucket for wall application. The demanding physical nature of the painting profession in Denmark results in accelerated fatigue and early retirement for painters. Additionally, issues like lid leakage due to dried paint and the use of fragile, porous plastic contribute to unexpected spills, particularly during abrupt vehicle stops. Our innovative solution involves a cardboard box housing two patent-pending plastic bags, each containing 5 liters of paint. This packaging not only enhances the workflow for professional painters but also reduces costs and lowers carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by approximately 65% per unit. The box's design facilitates easy and ergonomic transportation, allowing for a 45% increase in units per pallet. The box is opened, and one of the bags is inserted into a standard roller bucket used by painters. The bag effortlessly opens and seamlessly fits into the roller bucket, wrapping around the edges, and enabling the painter to begin work promptly. This functionality is made possible through an innovative patented design and specific plastic welding techniques.

Provargo A/S er markedsførende indenfor drikkevarekontrol. Vi udvikler, producerer og leverer online baserede doserings og kontrolsystemer til hospitality branchen, med et væld af kunder i både Danmark og resten af verden. Vi gennemgår i øjeblikket en spændende fase i vores udvikling som virksomhed, med et større fokus rettet mod bar,-, hotel-, og restaurationskæder. Samtidig arbejder vi også tæt sammen med distributører på markedet. I bar og restaurationsbranchen er det almindeligt at se relativt høje spildprocenter på drikkevarer. Det resulterer i to problemstillinger: 1) Et stort tab af omsætning. 2) Manglende overblik over reel lagerbeholdning af eksempelvis fustager, flasker, post-mix beholdere, osv. Derfor har vi udviklet systemer der synliggør på et online dashboard, nøjagtigt hvad der tappes af såvel spiritus, som øl, vin og sodavand. Alle tappedata registreres med tidsstempler og er i stand til at give brugeren et overblik over forbrugsmønstre, lagerniveauer, spidsbelastninger af personale, faktisk forbrug af drikkevarerne der tilbydes, m.v. Vores kerneprodukt er i stand til at integrere med cloud-baserede POS systemer, hvilket gør det muligt for udvalgte personer (eksempelvis ejere eller lokale driftschefer) at overvåge balanceforholdet imellem salg og faktiske udskænkninger. Herudover tilbyder vi også øvrige løsninger der sikrer at kvaliteten af drikkevarerne er i top, eksempelvis ved temperaturkontrol og køler overvågning. EIT Climate-KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Community) is Europe’s foremost climate innovation initiative. We understand that keeping global temperature rise below 1.5˚C demands unprecedented change. It requires new social dynamics, ways of doing business, capital flows, policymaking, economic models, and new ways of living. That is why our mission is to leverage the power of systems innovation to transform whole places, industries, and value chains by 2030, working across sectors to develop and scale ambitious, mission-led programmes. Established in 2010 and headquartered in Amsterdam, we orchestrate a community of more than 200 organisations including large corporations and SMEs, municipal and regional governments, universities, and research institutes, as well as non-governmental organisations and uncommon actors. Historically, we have been funded by our founder and core funder, the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), but we are currently transitioning to a multi-funder model. EIT Climate-KIC colleagues are based in one of our local offices across Europe or work remotely from home based in one of the countries where we have a branch. We meet at our local offices to exchange and connect and use online collaboration tools work with each other and with our Community. On occasion, we meet in-person as teams, and once per year as an organisation.
