The uMover® is a smart and usability-focused 3-wheel electrical vehicle for transporting people over shorter indoor and outdoor distances (0,5-5 km). It has been developed by us, DTU spinout CJ Company IVS, whom have built the uMover® upon a future mobility concept proposed by Continental AG (CAG). The uMover® targets employees who need to travel frequently within shorter distances, enabling them to become more efficient at work by easing their way of travel and reducing their travel time substantially. The uMover® will be a superior work-environment travel solution, as it – due to its smart design – offers the flexible advantages of walking, but with the similar speed and ease as driving a car or a bike. Drawbacks of the solutions in the market today are high prices, space requirements (especially for cars), no compliance with traffic regulations and laws and poor safety control (limiting the indoor application possibilities). Through cooperation with DTU and CAG we have been able to complete a full proof-of-concept and develop several of the unique mechanical components and are now in the detailing phase of the mechanical and electrical construction for a scale-up of the uMover®.

Plastic waste and single-use packaging is one of the great unsolved problems for our planet. In Denmark, we produce 844KG of household waste annually per person. Most of this packaging is used for food and beverage products and it is an increasingly large environmental challenge. At Cirqle we are driven by our mission to make single-use a thing of the past and make reuse packaging the norm. Reusing packaging reduces the impact, and greatly minimizes the natural resource use of packaging. In the European Union alone, more than 1.5 million paint buckets are discarded daily, constituting a disposal of 340 tons of single-use plastic that is incinerated each day. Starting from early 2023 (2025 in Denmark and Slovenia), manufacturers are obligated to cover the disposal costs of their packaging based on sustainability criteria. In Denmark, this translates to an estimated 15% fee on paint buckets. Furthermore, the conventional round shape of packaging has proven suboptimal for logistics and transportation. Beyond its environmental impact, the traditional paint bucket poses challenges for professional painters. These challenges encompass ergonomic issues during handling, such as the strain of lifting two buckets simultaneously, which exceeds recommended weight limits according to the Working Environment Authority. Painters also find themselves in awkward positions when pouring paint into a roller bucket for wall application. The demanding physical nature of the painting profession in Denmark results in accelerated fatigue and early retirement for painters. Additionally, issues like lid leakage due to dried paint and the use of fragile, porous plastic contribute to unexpected spills, particularly during abrupt vehicle stops. Our innovative solution involves a cardboard box housing two patent-pending plastic bags, each containing 5 liters of paint. This packaging not only enhances the workflow for professional painters but also reduces costs and lowers carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by approximately 65% per unit. The box's design facilitates easy and ergonomic transportation, allowing for a 45% increase in units per pallet. The box is opened, and one of the bags is inserted into a standard roller bucket used by painters. The bag effortlessly opens and seamlessly fits into the roller bucket, wrapping around the edges, and enabling the painter to begin work promptly. This functionality is made possible through an innovative patented design and specific plastic welding techniques.

Agoprene is a biotech startup based in Oslo and Copenhagen. Agoprene is developing furniture foam from biomass to help the furniture industry reduce their need for petrochemicals. ​ Globally, furniture foam, which is derived from petroleum, accounts for 105 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. One armchair for example, emits an average of 43 kg CO2e, almost half of which is due to furniture foam. ​ Agoprene's foam is completely free of petrochemicals. We believe finding planet-friendly alternatives isn’t a challenge; it’s an opportunity.
