Danish laws are available to everyone: they are published in the Official Gazette. How the courts apply them is not. Court decisions show how the law is interpreted and applied, yet for a large share of the cases from the higher courts, the decision is not publicly available.
OpenLaw is a non-profit association working for open and free access to Danish case law. We believe that court decisions belong to the public, not to commercial databases.
Our application at openlaw.dk gives an overview of the cases from the higher courts. We monitor the court schedules of the Supreme Court, the Eastern and Western High Courts and the Maritime and Commercial High Court, and the application now covers more than 16,000 cases. If you need a copy of a specific decision, our request function lets us obtain it from the court and make it available to every other user. Everything is free and without login.
OpenLaw was founded in Copenhagen in 2025. Our partners include Danske Advokater, Spinnaker Nordic, Juris and JURAI.
