At Naer, we are creating a place that helps teams spend more time in the flow state, by building a VR/AR application for fun, focused workshops. The term “flow state” describes a mental state in which a person is completely focused on a single task or activity, and the result shows that people are 5x more productive and do some of their best and most inspired work in less time.
By offering a place for undistracted work using VR, where teams can feel connected and have fun, Naer will lift teams into the flow-state faster, more often, and longer.
Creating flow requires delight in every aspect of our product. We need super simple-interaction design, which is definitely not a solved problem for VR and AR. We need high performance features that don’t sputter and cough to break your immersion. We need playful and friendly visuals, taking people to a place of focused imagination, rather than a dreary grey corporate office knock-off.
VR is the tool and not the goal - Complements are better than replacements. No one should spend their full day in VR. Life’s too good for that. Instead we’re making integrations with tools like Miro and Figma, that help people transition in and out of VR when it makes sense. Like switching from your computer to your phone and back again. Naer is about offering a place to go to when you really want to think better, alone or together. In other words, we're creating a collaboration platform for workshops, that just happens to be in VR/AR.
Naer [næ:r] originates from Nær, the Norwegian word for closeness 💜 Our company was founded in 2021, and we are a small team with 3 founders, and the ambition to be 10 in the near future.
What it's like working at Naer? We will continue to be a small team for a while, but we think that’s a good thing. Think of what Notion did, but for collaboration. We can stay small and still make something brilliant.
We're also a design driven company. Meaning we believe in people first. Therefore it doesn't matter what role you have, you will still learn from our customers and engage with our community.
Our team work from our main office at Majorstua in the heart of Oslo, surrounded by other great startups (we call it “the jungle”). We also have remote colleagues, and all company communication is in English. Everyone in our team believes in what we do, that improving how we work will lead to better productivity and higher work satisfaction. Naer is built for people like us, explorers in search of better ways of working, that believe teams are more productive when they feel connected and have fun.
We share some common beliefs with our users.
- First, there are always better ways of working. People who are different think better together. We need diversity in perspectives as we build our team.
- Second, we don't care where people live. Be wherever. Whatever works, works.
- Lastly, life is too good to spend all day in VR. Naer uses VR to help people get the most out of their time at work, so they can have more time for life.
We’re looking to build our team from the ground, with warm, clever people with healthy ambitions. Most importantly, we're looking for people who care. Care for each other, care about what we’re doing, and who care about getting somewhere. If you’re clever, comfortable making decisions with others and a good person, that’s pretty much it.
