Freelance 3D Designer / Asset Maker

Salary Competitive

We're looking for a dedicated asset maker & product visualizer to handle the bulk of our 3D modeling - building product-accurate geometry from scratch in 3D, and turning engineering CAD data into clean, optimized models ready for animation and the web.

The role

This is the person doing the heavy lifting on modeling. You'll take a STEP export or a blank scene and turn it into geometry that shades properly, holds up in close-up, and runs smooth on a website. Modeling plus real-time web optimization in one person is rare - so the skills below are listed in priority order. We don't expect every box ticked.

What you'll be doing (must-haves)

Listed most-important first.

  1. Hard surface modeling (the big one) - Clean product geometry, built from scratch or retopologized off CAD models. You can take a STEP export and turn it into something that shades properly and holds up in close-up.

  2. Texturing and shading - Creating high quality, realistic materials and textures for 3D representations of real products.

  3. Real-time web optimization - Getting that same model down to something that loads fast and runs smooth in three.js. Knowing how to create high quality, compressed .glb/gltf models.

  4. High-end lookdev - Studio lighting and materials that read as real for offline rendering.

  5. Animation - Product motion, assembly reveals, controlled camera moves. Think motion-design timing more than character animation - visualizing products in movement.

Nice to have

Bonus points, not dealbreakers:

  • Creative visual FX - Simulated, art-directed effects for creative video content: smoke, fire, destruction, and the like.

  • Shader programming - Deep knowledge of real-time shaders and the code behind them. Able to write shaders directly in the browser with GLSL.

Tools we use

Modeling & render: Blender + Cycles // any industry standard 3D DCC

Texturing: Substance 3D Suite // any industry standard 3D DCC

Web / real-time: three.js and React Three Fiber

The logistics

  • Our Copenhagen HQ or fully remote, work from wherever.

  • Flexible hours - we care about the output, not when you clock in.

  • Ongoing freelance with steady work, not a one-off gig.

  • Rate is open - tell us what you're after and we'll figure it out.

How to apply

Send your reel or portfolio (hard surface / product work especially) and a quick note on which of the skills above are your strongest. If you've shipped 3D to the web, show us.
