Commercial real estate valuations influence billions in investment decisions, financing, pension funds, and urban development. Yet much of the industry still relies on manual workflows, disconnected spreadsheets, static reports, and limited transparency.

Pattern Geographic is building the next generation of real estate valuation and analytics. Our platform combines valuation, climate risk, sustainability, market intelligence, and urban analytics into a single system that helps property owners, investors, lenders, advisors, and cities understand what truly drives long-term value.

Our mission is to create the digital valuer: a data-driven platform where valuations become more transparent, decisions more informed, and the impact of climate risk, sustainability, and location dynamics on asset value can be systematically analyzed and managed.

The Role

We're looking for a technically strong CTO to take ownership of our platform architecture, product development, infrastructure, and technical strategy.

This is not a traditional maintenance role.

Part of the role is about stability: ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and quality in a platform handling business-critical data for institutional users.

The other part is about transformation: understanding how AI changes both the product itself and how modern engineering teams build software.

You need to be comfortable creating room for rapid experimentation and innovation without compromising stability, security, or compliance.

We are not looking for someone to simply implement AI features.

We are looking for someone who wants to rethink how valuation, analytics, and decision-making should work in a world where AI is becoming part of every workflow.

You will work closely with the founders and have significant influence over the product, technology, and long-term direction of the company.

What You'll Do

• Own the technical vision and architecture of Pattern Geographic

• Lead product development and platform evolution

• Build and scale systems for valuation, analytics, and decision support

• Shape our AI strategy and implementation

• Drive technical excellence, security, and reliability

• Work hands-on with code, architecture, and product decisions

• Help build the future engineering team and culture

Technical Environment

• Ruby on Rails 7 / Ruby 3.1

• Vue 3

• PostgreSQL / PostGIS

• AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudFront, S3, ELB)

• Infrastructure as Code via CloudFormation

• Event-driven computation pipelines and serverless architecture

Nice to Have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails

• Experience with AWS architecture and operations

• Experience with PostGIS or geospatial systems

• Experience with event-driven systems

• Experience with AI product development

• Startup experience
