Join the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.

The work

At IQM, we are building cutting-edge quantum computers and shaping the future of computing. As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in strengthening and continuously developing our quality management system in a fast-evolving high-tech environment. In this role, you will enable continuous improvement across IQM’s operations, with a focus on product and service quality, customer-perceived quality, and internal process efficiency and effectiveness. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and service functions to drive impactful quality initiatives and ensure scalable, high-quality operations as we grow. This is an opportunity to directly influence how quality management is built and developed in one of Europe’s leading quantum technology companies. This role is based in Espoo, Finland.

What you’ll actually do

  • Develop and improve nonconformity management processes and tools, enabling cross-functional teams to consistently identify, investigate, and resolve nonconformities

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and facilitate root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness verification

  • Support customer complaint analysis and supplier reclamations together with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and service teams

  • Define, monitor, and analyse quality KPIs and prepare quality reports for leadership

  • Promote good quality practices and continuous improvement throughout the organization

  • Train operational teams on quality tools, standards, and best practices

  • Create, maintain, and monitor quality documentation to ensure documents are controlled, up to date, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle

  • Support the development and governance of the Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Serve as one of the QMS internal auditors by planning and conducting internal audits

What we’re looking for

Must-have qualifications:

  • Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing industry

  • Strong knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or equivalent

  • Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis and statistical process control

  • 5+ years of experience in quality management

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across different levels of the organization

  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships across departments

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for quality outcomes

  • Ability to consistently deliver on commitments and build trust with internal and external stakeholders

  • Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach

  • Innovative thinking around quality processes and methodologies

  • MSc or BSc degree in physics, engineering, or another relevant technical discipline

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

  • Experience conducting internal audits

Why IQM?

  • Full-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.

  • High-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too—hybrid setups, flexible hours.

  • Never the smartest: Expect to learn constantly. You won't always be the smartest person in the room, and that's the point.

  • Approachable leadership: Flat hierarchy, direct access. Feel free to approach any leaders. They're friendlier than they look!

  • The sweet spot: Big enough to matter. Small enough to move fast. Growing between a startup and a corporation. We’re in the phase where top performers get noticed.

  • Bigger than IQM: Our people build know-how for the entire quantum ecosystem. We publish papers, run hackathons, and help shape a market that's still being defined.

The future of computing won’t build itself. You might be one of the few who do.
