Internship - Software Developer at VhAT

Are you passionate about coding and curious about how AI and automation in combination with a modern web app can take the pain out of running a business? Are you looking for a place where you actually get to build it? At VhAT, we offer a hands-on internship in a small but ambitious startup - currently a team of 9 incl. 2 student assistants - where your ideas matter, your code ships to real users from week one, and your growth as a developer is something we take seriously.

VhAT is a Copenhagen-based startup on a mission to make VAT less painful. Two out of three Danish VAT filings contain errors - our web app helps businesses, accountants and bookkeepers catch those errors before they become expensive.

What you'll be doing

You will be an active part of the team building our web app - both frontend and backend. Because we are a small team you won't be "the intern who fixes button labels" - you'll ship real features and help shape the direction of both the product and your own growth as a developer. Some of what you might work on:

• New endpoints, data models and business logic in our NestJS API

• Components, flows and dashboards in our Next.js frontend

• Participating in daily standups and reviews

• Troubleshooting our user-facing web application

Together we will figure out what your main working area will be, depending on what you prefer and what you find exciting!

The stack you'll be working with:

• Frontend: Next.js, JSX, SCSS, Semantic UI, Axios and more.

• Backend: NestJS, TypeScript, MongoDB, Azure, Sentry and more.

  
  

Who we're looking for

• You are a student within the field of software and need an internship of at least 5 months as part of your studies

• You can code in JavaScript/TypeScript and have touched React or Node before. You don't need to have used our exact stack

• You're curious, unafraid to ask questions, and enjoy opening a codebase and finding your way around

• You can work independently, but also enjoy pair programming and getting your solutions challenged

• You're comfortable working in English, although most of the VhAT team also speak Danish
