Student City Manager, Malmö

Purpose

Grow athme in Malmö by embedding it into existing sports communities and helping those communities thrive on the platform.

As Student City Manager for Malmö, you will be the local face of athme on the ground, building relationships with organizers, communities, and players. You will do this with close support from the headquarters team in Denmark, using an existing playbook, clear priorities, and ongoing guidance. This is not a role where you are expected to start from scratch. You will be implementing, adapting, and executing a proven approach locally.

What this role actually does

  • Connect with established sports communities in Malmö such as clubs, informal groups, universities, student networks, and companies

  • Build trust with organizers, hosts, and community leaders

  • Bring entire communities onto athme, not just individual players

  • Help communities run their activities better using athme

  • Be present on the ground when needed at events, campuses, sports halls, or meetups

  • Identify high-potential communities and help grow them over time

  • Execute a local growth playbook with support from the headquarters team in Denmark

  • Work closely with the team in Denmark, who will provide guidance, materials, structure, and ongoing sparring

  • Share local insights and feedback from Malmö communities so the team can improve product and operations

  • Collect structured feedback from hosts and players to improve the product and local experience

What success looks like

  • Active sports communities in Malmö consistently using athme

  • Recurring events and strong host retention

  • Organic player growth within and across communities

  • Strong word of mouth among organizers, hosts, and players

  • Solid local execution of the athme playbook, adapted well to Malmö

  • Strong collaboration between Malmö and the headquarters team in Denmark

What you bring / Profile

  • You genuinely enjoy sports, people, and community building

  • You are comfortable talking to organizers and showing up where things happen

  • You are structured, proactive, and able to follow through

  • You are business-minded but human in your approach

  • You are motivated by participation, ownership, and real-world impact

  • You learn fast by doing and adapt based on what works in practice

  • You take initiative and move things forward

  • No formal experience required. Student clubs, volunteering, sports teams, event organizing, or community work are highly relevant

  • Strong cultural fit if you actively play or follow sports such as football, padel, volleyball, fitness, running, or similar

  • You are a student, ideally living in Malmö and studying in Denmark

  • You understand the Malmö and Copenhagen student and sports dynamic, or are excited to work in that cross-border environment

Internship structure and growth opportunity

This role will start as a one-month unpaid internship.

The purpose of the internship is to test mutual fit in a real operating environment. During this month, you will work closely with the athme team and get hands-on support, clear priorities, and a practical playbook to execute locally in Malmö.

If you show that you can take ownership, build relationships, and drive real progress on the ground, the role can continue as a student assistant position after the initial internship period.

This is a strong opportunity for a student who wants real responsibility, real support, and the chance to grow into a longer-term role based on performance.

What we offer

  • A real chance to work on a live product used by real sports communities

  • A clear playbook and support from the headquarters team in Denmark

  • Meaningful responsibility from day one, without being left alone to figure everything out yourself

  • Close collaboration with the founding team and direct exposure to how decisions are made

  • A structured and well-organized setup with clear communication, documentation, and follow-ups

  • Flexibility that works well alongside studies

  • A role with real on-the-ground impact in Malmö

  • Regular collaboration across Malmö and Copenhagen when relevant

  • A steep learning curve across growth, community, operations, and product

  • The opportunity to continue in a student assistant role after the internship if performance and fit are strong

  • Long-term upside for people who grow with the company and help build athme city by city including equity

Working at
athme

athme is building a category defining app for real world sports and social connection. Our platform makes it easy to discover activities, join games, and build communities through movement. From football, padel, badminton, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, running, fitness, and chess to handball, bouldering, and pickleball, athme helps people find the right activity and the right people to play with. We believe sport is one of the strongest drivers of health, belonging, and community. But for many people, getting active is still harder than it should be. Finding players, organizing games, and joining activities often takes too much effort. athme is built to remove that friction and make sport a more natural part of everyday life. Our mission is to help more people move, meet, and build real connections through sport. We are creating a product with the potential to become a core platform for active communities, starting locally and built to scale.
