We are looking for a Production Planner Intern to support our chip fabrication operations. In this role, you will help ensure smooth and efficient production by coordinating schedules, tracking work-in-progress (WIP), and supporting data-driven decision-making across the fabrication team.

This internship offers hands-on exposure to high-tech manufacturing in quantum computing, where you’ll work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve planning accuracy, visibility, and response to bottlenecks.

Location: Espoo, Finland
Eligibility: Applicants must have the legal right to work in Finland
Duration: 4-6 months (full-time, 7.5 hours per day)
Salary: €2,500/month

What will I be doing?

  • Update and maintain daily production plans and schedules for chip fabrication

  • Track work-in-progress (WIP) across fabrication steps and flag delays or deviations

  • Prepare and distribute production status, capacity, and performance reports

  • Support coordination between production, engineering, and supply chain teams

  • Help identify and follow up on bottlenecks, tool downtime, and material shortages

  • Contribute to improving data structures, reporting, and planning processes

What skills do I need?

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling

  • Clear communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams

  • Basic understanding of data analysis and reporting

  • Interest in manufacturing, operations, or supply chain processes

Preferred skills

  • Basic knowledge of fabrication, semiconductor, MEMS, or manufacturing processes

  • Familiarity with MES systems

  • Exposure to production planning, scheduling, or supply chain concepts

What kind of person will thrive in this role?

  • Detail-oriented and structured, with a strong sense of accuracy

  • Curious and motivated to learn about high-tech manufacturing

  • Collaborative and comfortable working with different teams

  • Proactive in identifying issues and improving processes

What can I expect from IQM?

  • You’ll gain hands-on experience in a real high-tech manufacturing environment, supporting the production of quantum computing hardware. Your work will directly contribute to improving production planning, visibility, and efficiency—helping teams make faster and better decisions.

  • You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working closely with production, engineering, and supply chain experts. As an intern, you won’t just observe—you’ll take ownership of meaningful tasks such as tracking production progress, preparing reports, and helping identify bottlenecks in the fabrication process.

  • We offer a fast-paced, international environment where you’ll learn how cutting-edge technology is built in practice. You’ll gain exposure to tools, data, and workflows used in advanced manufacturing while developing skills in coordination, data analysis, and operations.

  • This internship is a great opportunity to build a strong foundation for your future career, whether in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, or deep-tech industries, while contributing to the development of next-generation quantum technology.
