🚀 About TimeLog:

TimeLog is a leading Professional Services Automation (PSA) software, dedicated to helping professional service organizations streamline business processes and boost productivity. TimeLog fills the gap between Project Managers and the Finance Department in the consulting business, empowering Project Managers to manage project financials in a way compliant with the requirements set by finance.

📢 About the Role:

We're looking for a Head of R&D who genuinely loves building strong engineering teams - someone who gets energy from helping engineers do their best work, and who understands that great software is as much about people and process as it is about code.

TimeLog is a growing SaaS company, and our engineering organization is at an exciting stage. We're in the middle of a major platform modernization program with a clear deadline - this role leads R&D through that delivery and beyond. Now we're focused on scaling: better delivery, deeper cross-functional alignment, and building the kind of engineering culture people are proud to be part of.

This is a senior leadership role, but it's not a distant one. You'll be close to the work, close to the teams, and a trusted partner to Product, Platform, Commercial, and the broader leadership team.

📃 Role Description:

As Head of R&D at TimeLog, you'll own engineering execution and people leadership across our product development organization. You'll coach and develop tech leads and engineers, make delivery more predictable, and work closely with Product, Platform, and Commercial to turn strategy into shipped customer value.

You'll report to the CPTO and be a key member of the PD leadership team.

🎯 Key responsibilities:

Leading and growing the team

  • Coach and develop tech leads and software engineers

  • Own hiring, team design, capability building, and performance

  • Build a culture with clear ownership and real accountability

  • Be a leader that people turn to for clarity, direction, and support

Driving delivery

  • Own engineering execution across teams and make roadmap delivery more predictable

  • Identify technical enablers and constraints early to avoid late surprises

  • Balance delivering customer value with doing things right - short-term speed and long-term health aren't opposites

  • Continuously improve how teams plan, collaborate, and deliver

Working across functions

  • Partner closely with Product Management to turn strategy into realistic and executable plans

  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure R&D understands customer needs and commercial realities

  • Work with Platform & Customer Operations to keep quality and stability a shared responsibility

  • Represent R&D clearly at the leadership level - and bring that clarity back to your teams

💪 Focus for 2026:

2026 is a delivery-critical year for TimeLog. This role leads R&D through the completion of a major platform modernization program with a clear deadline. Your focus will be on driving predictable execution, surfacing risks early, and ensuring the new platform becomes embedded in how we work - while building the engineering culture and the team that carries us beyond 2026.

🥇 What We're Looking For:

You've led R&D/Engineering organizations in SaaS or product-led companies, and you've done it well. You know what good looks like.

  • Experience delivering in a high-accountability, results-driven environment with clear business milestones and timelines

  • Several years of experience managing and leading engineering/tech professionals

  • A track record of improving delivery in real, complex team environments

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills -comfortable with Product, Ops, and exec stakeholders

  • The ability to create clarity in ambiguity without pretending everything is simple

  • A leadership style that's structured and pragmatic while remaining people-oriented

  • Experience leading through scaling, modernization, or organizational change

  • Familiarity with platform-oriented development, APIs, or cloud-based architectures

  • A solid understanding of modern engineering practices and what "good" looks like operationally

  • Fluency in English (Danish is a bonus, but not required)

👌 A word on AI:

We're genuinely excited about how AI is changing engineering - both in how we build things and in what we build. If you've got hands-on experience applying AI in R&D workflows or in shaping AI-enabled product capabilities, that's a real advantage here. We'd love to hear about it

🏆 What Success Looks Like After 12 Months
  • A genuine understanding of the PSA domain and the problems our customers are trying to solve - shared across the R&D leadership layer

  • Clear ownership across teams and domains, with strong collaboration and accountability

  • More predictable delivery - with technical risks surfaced early, priorities transparent, and fewer late-stage surprises

  • The new platform embedded in how we work - reliable, trusted, and enabling significantly faster time-to-market

  • Stronger technical leadership, with more autonomous and confident team members

  • An engineering culture where ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement are clearly visible

🎁 What we offer:
  • A collaborative and trust-based culture

  • Flexible working hours and a healthy work-life balance

  • Real influence at the leadership level and the trust to build something you're proud of

If that sounds like the kind of role you've been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you - don't wait, we're excited to welcome your application today!

Working at
TimeLog

Over the past 20 years, TimeLog has grown. From a basement to offices in Denmark, Sweden, and Malaysia. From the goal to create the world's best time tracking tool to wanting to be Europe's leading Professional Services Automation (PSA) software provider. And we're not nearly finished growing. Or dreaming. In November 2020, the renowned software investor, Viking Venture, invested € 10 million in TimeLog. The goal of the partnership is to create a Nordic PSA power house by accelerating product development, becoming even more TimeLoggers and acquiring at least one company a year over the next five years. In March 2022, TimeLog acquired its first company: AutoPilot. AutoPilot is a market leader in Denmark used by more than half of the Danish architects, and nearly that many engineers. It covers their need for time management, resource planning, pipeline, analysis and business intelligence. The acquisition is part of a strategy to offer more niche solutions to our customers. The acquisition of AutoPilot is also the first after the investment from Viking Venture. With the acquisition, we are more than 100 employees working from offices in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Kuala Lumpur, London and Stockholm.
