We are looking for a Senior Network Specialist to take ownership of IQM’s global connectivity services and help build the network foundation that supports our research, operations, and customer environments. In this role you will own IQM’s global connectivity services and keep our production critical network infrastructure reliable and ready for growth

 

What will I be doing?

  • Own IQM’s global connectivity services and take end to end responsibility for reliability and uptime

  • Design, develop, and maintain network architecture to support a growing global footprint

  • Plan and drive the network roadmap, including prioritisation and long term improvements

  • Operate and maintain production critical network infrastructure with a low tolerance for downtime

  • Monitor network health and performance, and proactively improve availability and stability

  • Troubleshoot incidents, analyze logs, identify root causes, and drive preventive actions

  • Plan and execute upgrades, maintenance windows, and migrations with care and clear communication

  • Maintain structured and up to date network documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks

  • Work with vendors, service providers, and consultants, and lead external work when needed

  • Collaborate closely with the IT team, especially the IT development side, plus key stakeholders across the company

What skills do I need?

  • 5 plus years of experience in network administration in business critical environments

  • Experience in network design and architecture planning, including scaling and standardisation

  • Strong knowledge of L2 and L3 networking,

  • Practical experience with some BGP, IPSec, firewalls, and VPN technologies, and confidence to learn the areas you have not owned before

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a calm approach during incidents

Nice to have

  • Experience with monitoring tools and building useful alerting and visibility

  • Scripting skills in Python or Bash, and comfort with Linux basics

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code or automation tools such as Ansible
