We are looking for QPU Process Engineers to own and improve wafer fabrication processes in our cleanroom. In this role, you’ll operate tools, optimize processes, troubleshoot production issues, and design experiments to enhance process quality.

You’ll collaborate closely with Production, Development, Materials, and Equipment teams to maintain and develop wafer processing steps that directly impact qubit coherence, and signal routing performance in quantum processors.

What will I be doing?

  • Become a process owner for specific wafer processes and offer support to other stakeholders.

  • Take a data-driven approach to process engineering work. Drive process control and continuous improvement.

  • Produce concise technical reports from process activities that can feedback to future design iterations.

  • Design experiments to test new processes, eliminate issues or optimize known processes.

  • Collaborate closely with other teams at all phases of QPU fabrication.

  • Track wafer WIP using MES systems, Jira, and Confluence.

  • Coordinate with Equipment Engineers to ensure production tools and systems remain in optimal condition.

  • Collaborate with equipment vendors on tool performance, process issues, and capability improvement

  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and cleanroom operational standards.

  • Support 5S activities, production capacity planning, and process improvement initiatives.

What experience and skills do I need?

  • 2–3 years of tool operation in a relevant wafer production or cleanroom environment.

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Science or related field. PhD is an advantage.

  • Hands-on expertise in one or more of three desired areas; Lithography & wet processing, Atomic Layer Deposition, and Characterization and metrology.

  • Proficiency with data analysis tools; JMP, Minitab or equivalent.

  • Solid understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control), MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis), and DOE (Design Of Experiments).

  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, EHS standards, and lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.

  • Proficiency with MES systems, Jira, and standard office tools (MS Office or equivalent).

What can I expect from IQM?

  • Work hands-on in the cleanroom, owning and improving wafer processes that are critical to building quantum processors.

  • Collaborate closely with Production, Development, Equipment, and Materials teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and advance QPU fabrication.

  • Make a direct impact on the future of quantum computing by shaping process quality, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Grow your expertise and career in a dynamic, innovative start-up environment that values creativity and cross-functional teamwork.
