About our game

Tectonicus: On The Edge Of War synthesizes mechanics of turn-based strategies, auto-battlers, and card games. To succeed, you are to use strategic thinking when placing heroes, commanders, and units on the board, as well as building synergic decks that emphasize each faction’s unique strengths.

Apart from online and local PvE battles, Tectonicus will be featuring a full-scale story mode. The player will be called to restore the historical truth lost in contradicting accounts and theories, rewritten history, and scholars’ disputes, by reincarnating significant battles and living through them as warlords, across centuries.

About your department

You will be joining the Business Department, which is responsible for overseeing and executing all the commercial and organizational tasks in our startup. These can range from everything to acquiring funding, planning the G-2-M-strategy for our game, collaborating with external business partners, setting up user studies, and SoMe campaigns, etc.

You will have a say in developing, picking, and choosing tasks from the Trello board. You can prioritize what aligns with your strengths and interests. We encourage you to challenge yourself and take on tasks that may be outside of your comfort zone.

About the job

We are looking for 2-3 new team members who can plan out and oversee our commercial activities. This includes understanding what markets our game will be the most successful in and how it can best compete with other games, as we are in a very competitive industry. We also need help figuring out the best ways of monetizing our game and how promotional campaigns can be set up to increase sales. We also require the help of external business partners, so we need people who can identify the best partners for our business and maintain good relations. And importantly, we are actively seeking funds that have to be managed and budgeted, while we evaluate how we finance our ongoing projects, both in terms of production of our game but also for collaboration with external business partners.

Responsibilities:

Depending on your profile, your tasks can be tailored so that you add the most value to our team. However, the more common tasks involve:

  • Support our CEO and producer with planning an effective business model and strategy that plays into the strengths of our game.

  • Help design and optimize our G2M strategies

  • Identify relevant business partners as well as external stakeholders and manage communication and projects with them

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and our competitors

  • Assist in applying for funding from various investors and institutions

  • Stay aware of external physical events and venues where we can show our game off.

  • Innovate our business activities

  • Plan and execute our soft funding applications and activities

  • Support us in developing pitch decks

  • Conduct market research

About you

You have either graduated from or are currently studying in a commercially oriented education program and have a solid understanding of how to set up and optimize a business. You are a hustler by heart and understand how to take advantage of opportunities for showing off or selling our game and ensure that there is a strong match between our product and the market. Ideally, you should also be able to interact and create strong relationships with external business partners.

You are also a team player who is able to collaborate across fields of expertise and pitch in with your own knowledge. Our team consists of game developers, designers, creatives, business developers, and historians. It is also an advantage if you have the will to put yourself forward to help others, like setting up events to show our game off. As we are a so-called indie studio making a video game, it is an advantage if you have knowledge or an interest in these types of products.

Skills & requirements

  • You have either recently graduated from or are currently studying a bachelor's, master's degree, or similar with a financial, economics, accounting, commercial, or innovative focus

  • You can communicate effectively in English, as that is our company language

  • You possess a commercial mindset and can maintain an overview of a variety of commercial tasks.

  • You are proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, or the Google equivalent, which we use in the team.

  • You understand the principles of managing a business and how to use things like the business model canvas, SWOT/TOWS.

  • You can create and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

Plusses

  • You understand budgeting as well as managing income and balance sheets.

  • You can effectively assess how much money certain projects will require to complete and where to acquire financing for said projects.

  • You have experience from the video game industry, but a basic knowledge of video games as a product is a plus.

Details

The position can be either onsite, hybrid, or remote, full-time with some flexibility. As we are currently seeking funding, the position will be unpaid, but you can contribute to an internship. Our offices are located in three locations: Copenhagen at Amager/Nørrebro and Frederiksberg.

Planned interview process

We plan to carry out two rounds of online interviews (or onsite if possible) in the mid-end of January/February, potentially on a weekend. You can apply as long as this is open.

Starting date: We can have you start in Q1 2026, but you can also sign up for an internship later in 2026. Please note we reply as fast as possible, but not as fast as big corporations, and since we send a lot of mail, some might reach your spam folder, so please make sure to check that folder. We usually reply to emails within 3-4 days. But we are mostly closed in December, so please expect replies in January.

Most studios start small with a narrow circle, but we quickly grew into a multi-functional diverse team. We are ambitious developers, artists, game-audio-UI designers, composers, storytellers, historians, archeologists, marketers, human resource specialists and user and market researchers. Vets and newcomers, the past and the future combined! Together, we harden our skills and knowledge, united and passionate about bringing meaningful games to people – just like our current project Tectonicus, a card-based auto-battler empowered by history going deep into the sources, initially rooted in the Viking Age. The focus and specialty of our games is on the subject of life and people, how questions about our existence can be displayed on screen and in the hands of the players. We make our assets in-house, from visual art and code to music and foley sounds, with passion and respect for history. We dedicate ourselves daily to creating a game atmosphere that takes you on a journey to the past, cards that are exciting to play, decks that feel like a living army under your wise warlord’s hand, and battle scenarios that let you shape history. Diversity and inclusivity are our values not only in words but in everyday practice. We actively make efforts to support all the various individuals participating in our journey, creating a safe and positive dynamic environment for neurodiversity, all ages, genders, and backgrounds, including various skill sets. We adhere to principles of openness and transparency, and we are results-oriented while valuing work-life balance. A place where you can feel welcome, and respected, where your voice and profession matter, we are keen on making this your first or next step that will excel your career and an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on our project and players. In short, our gamers come from all walks of life and so do we, gathering great people from a wide variety of backgrounds is devotion not just because we believe this is the right thing for us but also because it facilitates a stronger company with greater games! VALUES AND WORK CULTURE We also value our Scandinavian work model. Expect a flat hierarchy with a bottom-up-based approach with a great work-life balance, and flexible working hours. Join team work with autonomy in task generation and execution, where you are proactive and not waiting for management for order, all in a trust-focused culture. Open, honest, and transparent communication with constructive feedback as our foundation expecting everyone to share opinions, no matter roles. An approachable and involving management. The collective intelligence finds effective solutions. We engage and explore sustainable practices and CSR. The top priority is teammates well-being supported by team-building exercises, social events and eating lunch together.
