Cernel is building the next generation of e-commerce infrastructure with AI-powered agents that automate complex tasks and connect workflows across systems. We’re developing an advanced agent framework that analyzes data, makes decisions, and drives performance — giving e-commerce teams better results, higher conversions, and more time for creative work.
You’re an experienced frontend developer who writes clean, maintainable code and cares deeply about architecture, performance, and best practices. You know how to build scalable, production-grade applications that handle complex data flows — and you enjoy solving hard problems with simple, elegant solutions.
You thrive in a startup environment where ownership matters. You value honesty, data-driven decisions, and open communication. You take responsibility, move fast, and enjoy shaping products from the ground up.
You have hands-on experience making architectural choices, iterating quickly, and balancing short-term impact with long-term scalability. In this role, you’ll help define the frontend foundation that enables Cernel’s AI agents to scale globally.
You’ll work closely with our Head of Frontend & UX and take shared responsibility for developing new features, setting coding standards, and building reliable, high-performing systems.
Required Experience:
3+ years of production experience with TypeScript in strict mode
Expert-level knowledge of React and Next.js (or similar frameworks)
Proven experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries
Track record of shipping frontend code that handle large-scale data (10k+ records) with optimal performance
Technical Excellence:
Deep understanding of React patterns, hooks, and performance optimization techniques
Experience with real-time data synchronization and complex filtering/sorting UIs
Comfort working with REST and GraphQL APIs
Strong grasp of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
We design and develop a platform in-house that provides our customers with advanced AI capabilities on top of their existing data, allowing them to operationalize tasks and gain transparent insights into how their data is stored, enriched and analyzed. We facilitate data management and actionable insights at scale across all their systems.
You'll Solve Complex Problems Like:
Building performant, filterable data tables handling 100k+ product records with real-time updates
Creating intuitive interfaces for complex AI agent configurations that non-technical users can understand
Implementing real-time data synchronization across multiple data sources (PIM, ERP, CRM systems)
Designing responsive, accessible dashboards that visualize AI decision-making processes
Optimizing bundle sizes and render performance for data-intensive applications
Building a component library that balances flexibility with consistency
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Transform Figma designs and UX wireframes into production-ready, accessible code
Build and maintain our reusable component library and design system
Write comprehensive tests: unit, integration, and E2E
Integrate with backend APIs and handle complex data transformations
Drive frontend architecture decisions and establish coding standards
Cernel is an e-commerce automation startup founded in 2023. We are a team of 12 people, actively hiring and expanding the team to support our growth. Cernel is building the next foundational layer for modern ecommerce systems. Today, businesses run on complex stacks of ERP, CRM, PIM, and WMS systems that rarely play well together.
We have already demonstrated traction with 30+ paying customers, and we're growing rapidly. Our first product – PIM ON AUTOPILOT – automates product data enrichment, filter construction, and categorization in existing PIM systems. But this is just the beginning: Our long-term goal is to evolve this into a fully agentic PIM system and eventually into an integration layer beneath all commerce software.
We are VC-funded, backed by private funds and founders/employees from team.blue, Humio and Google as well as a list of experienced e-commerce specialists. You will therefore work in a highly technical and skilled environment with an automation-first approach to solving complex problems.
We offer several benefits, including but not limited to:
Competitive pay and equity
Central office in Aarhus with lunch
Upskilling opportunities such as certifications, events and programmes
A workplace where you have an opportunity to help define the future
Submit your application through TheHub or reach out to our hiring manager, Mathias. We will continuously accept applications and invite candidates for an initial interview.
