Who are you?

The role of Backend Developer will focus on developing and maintaining new, exciting solutions which underlines our ability to provide customers with AI e-commerce specialist agents.

You have an innate interest in development, are detail oriented and take responsibility for your work. You have an understanding of solid, practical development principles and experience in operating and evolving a tech stack to handle scale.

You should have hands-on experience with iterative development processes and making decisions that balances short-term and long-term requirements. The role will help define and implement the technology necessary to scale our AI agents to a global market. 

You will work closely with the CTO to support AI development teams, and will be given shared responsibility for developing solutions and building reliable, scalable code.

What we're looking for

• Passionate about writing robust code that scales

• Interested in test-driven development and commitment to quality. You have an attention to detail that shines through in your work

• 3-5 years of experience with Python, Go, or similar

Responsibilities and what you will do

We work with an event-driven architecture that continuously monitors and acts upon large amounts of data to drive value for e-commerce shops. Our infrastructure ingest large amounts of data from customers, processes it, analyzes it and using algorithms provide and execute optimizations autonomously on the webshop. 

Responsibilities

• Platform development (such as APIs, OAuth, Billing Services)

• Writing end-to-end tests, and improving code quality through testable designs

• Integration and Data Ingestion APIs, that helps customers seamlessly integrate with our platform

• Implementing development guidelines and helping define code quality. Defining abstractions and how the systems should interact outside of our domain.

• Identify, design and build new features that capture automation potentials for our customers.

Who are we?

Cernel is an e-commerce automation startup founded in 2023. We are a team of 12 people, actively hiring and expanding the team to support our growth. Cernel is building the next foundational layer for modern ecommerce systems. Today, businesses run on complex stacks of ERP, CRM, PIM, and WMS systems that rarely play well together.

We have already demonstrated traction with 30+ paying customers, and we're growing rapidly. Our first product – PIM ON AUTOPILOT – automates product data enrichment, filter construction, and categorization in existing PIM systems. But this is just the beginning: Our long-term goal is to evolve this into a fully agentic PIM system and eventually into an integration layer beneath all commerce software.

We are VC-funded, backed by private funds and founders/employees from team.blue, Humio and Google as well as a list of experienced e-commerce specialists. You will therefore work in a highly technical and skilled environment with an automation-first approach to solving complex problems.
