To fuel Swappie’s profitable growth and to advance our mission of making refurbished electronics mainstream, we are seeking a
Technical Training and Development Lead
This new role offers full ownership to architect and govern a high-impact, scalable technical training ecosystem across our global production sites (starting with Tallinn and Leipzig). You directly empower every employee on our Operations teams to succeed.
As a Technical Training and Development Lead, you are a people leader, managing and coaching our Technical Training Coordinators into a unified, high-performing global team. Your mission is to standardize and deliver all technical training to ensure every production employee is skilled, safe, and confident in using new processes and technology. Crucially, this role connects practical, hands-on execution with scalable learning methodology, introducing modern, effective ways of learning. You establish a certification program that empowers line leaders to own ongoing knowledge transfer. Your efforts ensure a sustainable practice that drives performance, compliance, and business continuity across our Technical Operations; ultimately making learning a strategic driver of operational excellence.
Collaborating with Operations Leadership, Safety, Quality, People, and Planning, you report directly to the Head of Operations Support.
I. Build the Ecosystem (Strategy & Standardization)
Own the Governance Structure and oversee the end-to-end scalable technical training across production facilities (at the moment Tallinn & Leipzig) and future expansion sites.
Measure and Improve: Implement robust tracking (Training Needs Analysis (TNA), skills mastery scores, feedback) to report on training effectiveness and impact on operational KPIs, guaranteeing operational excellence and zero audit findings.
II. Lead the Team (People & Talent)
Lead a Global Team: Unify and develop our embedded Technical Training Coordinators into a top-tier learning performance team.
Empower Trainers: Establish and run a continuous "Train the Trainer" certification program to build and certify capable in-house expertise.
III. Deliver Impact (Operational Results)
Drive Compliance & Readiness: Ensure 100% compliant, timely training for all new hires and technology rollouts, integrating readiness checks with operational launch schedules.
3+ Yrs L&D Focus: Creating/delivering technical or process training, ideally in a physical operations setting (e.g., manufacturing, logistics).
Instructional Design: Proven ability to create standardized, scalable training materials and define learning objectives.
"Train the Trainer": Direct experience leading sessions and coaching managers/Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to transfer knowledge effectively.
Training System Management: Expertise in designing systematic training processes (traceability, compliance). Competence in evaluating/leveraging tracking tools to maintain accurate records.
Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: Strong ability to partner with non-L&D teams and champion change. Includes leading the training procurement process (identifying, evaluating, selecting external providers).
Education: Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Andragogy, Organizational Development, or HR/L&D) preferred; Bachelor's degree required or demonstrated equivalent experience with strong Adult Training Methodology.
Language & Travel: Professional English (company language) and willingness to travel regularly (Leipzig & Helsinki).
Multi-Site Experience: Prior experience managing training across international or multi-site environments.
Leadership Profile (Your Background)
This is a builder's role, and we look for leadership in all forms. We welcome:
Experienced Leads who have owned this function before.
Emerging Leaders (Senior ICs/Specialists) who show strong informal leadership skills (i.e., you can coach and teach effectively) and are ready to step up and build from scratch.
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement (Lean, Six Sigma), familiarity with the electronics or refurbishment industry, or interest in innovative learning technology. These are areas you can develop further on the job.
This is a high-impact, strategic role offering full autonomy and global visibility:
End-to-End Ownership: Be the architect—designing, building, and running the entire long-term technical training framework across all global operational sites.
Strategic Impact: Elevate technical training from a tactical task to a strategic driver of growth, compliance, and business continuity.
Global People Leadership: Unify and transform our embedded Technical Training Coordinators into a high-performing global team, while scaling capacity through a continuous 'Train the Trainer' program.
Critical Compliance Guardian: Own technical training compliance, documentation, and audit-readiness—directly ensuring the safety and performance of our operations.
