Company Description

Aavuus is dedicated to improving Space Situational Awareness by providing precise and timely data on space debris. Utilizing advanced ground-based laser sensing and intelligent tracking algorithms, we support satellite operators and defense users in mitigating collision risks. Our mission is to protect critical assets and promote safer, more sustainable operations in orbit.

About the Role

We are looking for a Commercialization Officer to join Aavuus at a very early stage — a rare opportunity to shape a deep-tech startup into a world-leading space debris company. You will take ownership of building our customer outreach, engagement, and commercialization processes from the ground up as well as driving sales efforts. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in creating structure out of ambiguity, can independently develop new business frameworks, and enjoys working at the intersection of technology, business, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and implement Aavuus’s customer outreach and engagement strategy from scratch

  • Identify and contact potential customers and partners to understand their needs, pain points, and challenges

  • Support the creation of Letters of Intent (LoIs) and early commercial agreements

  • Define and refine Aavuus’s commercialization roadmap and go-to-market strategy

  • Collaborate closely with the technical team to align customer insights with product development

  • Represent Aavuus in industry events and consortium discussions within the SSA, collision avoidance, and defense domains

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in business development or commercialization, ideally within B2B or high-tech industries

  • Experience in Commercial and Sales activities with a strong focus on achieving business growth

  • Understanding of the space and defense sectors; prior experience with related clients is a strong plus

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to create processes from scratch and operate independently

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to translate complex technology into clear commercial value

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to join early and help shape Aavuus into a world-leading space debris company

  • Full ownership to build our commercialization function and market strategy from the ground up

  • Performance-based compensation, with base salary revisited after our next funding round

  • Hybrid role, with the core team based in Espoo, Finland

Further Details

  • Contract type: fixed-term, full time 6 months, intent to convert to permanent upon funding; probation period if applicable.

  • Base salary range 2500-3500€

  • Start date: January 2026 (or to be discussed)

  • Eligibility: EU work authorization/visa status.

  • Working languages: English (Finnish is a plus)

  • We also ask you to send your CV and motivation letter to info[a]aavuus.com by 1st of December. The title of the email should be "Application: Commercial Officer - Aavuus"

  • We will screen the applications on a continuous basis

Aavuus

Aavuus is a space-tech startup building a global network of ground-based laser stations to detect and track space debris with unmatched precision. Our mission is to ensure the safety and sustainability of Earth’s orbit by providing satellite operators, Space Situational Awareness (SSA) companies, and defense organizations with accurate, timely, and affordable debris tracking data. Space has become crowded. Over 10,000 active satellites and more than hundred million debris objects currently orbit Earth, and the number of satellites is expected to grow tenfold by 2030. Even a fragment as small as one centimeter can destroy a satellite upon impact. Yet, current tracking systems are struggling to keep pace. This gap threatens not only the safety of critical assets in orbit but also the future of the global space economy, which depends on the long-term sustainability of orbital operations.
