We’re looking for a Jr. Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and test mechanical components for quantum computers and related systems.

In this role, you’ll take ideas from concept to reality, modeling, documenting, prototyping, and assembling precision structures that form the foundation of our cutting-edge hardware. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure every design meets the highest standards of reliability, performance, and innovation.

What will I be doing?

  • Mechanical Design & Development: Design, develop, and document mechanical components and systems that support complex quantum hardware.
  • Modeling & Analysis: Use CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor, Vault) to model new parts, perform mechanical analysis, and integrate third-party components into complete assemblies.
  • Collaborative Engineering: Work closely with experts in cryogenics, vacuum, and microwave technologies to create robust, manufacturable, and innovative solutions.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare precise production drawings, assembly instructions, datasheets, and compliance documentation to support manufacturing, logistics, and regulatory standards.

What Skills and experience do I need?

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or at least 4 years of completed studies in the field).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault (or equivalent CAD tools).
  • Experience with CAD modeling, mechanical design, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and production technologies.
  • Basic understanding of structural analysis and mechanical system performance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present engineering concepts during design reviews.
  • Collaborative mindset and problem-solving ability to identify design challenges and deliver effective, reliable solutions.

What can I expect from IQM?

  • Contribute to the mechanical design and development of quantum computers, gaining hands-on experience with technology that pushes the boundaries of science and engineering.
  • Work alongside specialists in cryogenics, vacuum, microwave, and electrical engineering, learning from some of the best in the field.
  • Take part in the full design process, from modeling and documentation to prototyping and production and see your work become part of real, functioning quantum systems.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary, supportive team where your ideas matter, your growth is encouraged, and your work helps advance the future of quantum computing.
