As a Student Lab Assistant in our R&D team, you’ll be hands-on in operating and optimizing our large-scale algae cultivation reactor at Novonesis in Kalundborg - a demonstration unit designed to showcase Algiecel’s breakthrough technology. You’ll also collaborate closely with our R&D team in Taastrup, assisting in monitoring, testing, and processing harvested material.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated, practical student who wants to develop skills in bioprocess operations, laboratory practice, and data handling - and make a real contribution to the future of climate-positive biotechnology.
Sampling and monitoring of the algae reactor (weekdays and weekends)
Observing algae health and growth parameters
Preparing media, performing cleaning (CIP) and biomass testing
Recording, organizing, and processing operational data
Supporting related processes such as harvesting, downstream processing, and shipping
Currently studying as an operations-, process technician, or engineering student (min. 1 year left of studies)
Experience working in laboratories – algae experience is a plus
Fluent in English (spoken and written); Danish is an advantage
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data handling)
You’re curious about biological production and microalgae
You enjoy hands-on problem-solving and learning new technologies • You’re organized, proactive, and able to manage your time independently
You thrive in a small, collaborative team environment • You’re motivated to grow your skills in biotech and sustainability
Part-time (10–12 hours per week)
Flexible schedule: 3–4 weekdays (1–2 hours/day) and during cultivation periods on Saturdays and Sundays (1–2 hours/day)
Location: Novonesis Kalundborg and 4–5 annual visits to Danish Technological Institute (DTI), Gregersensvej 1, DK-2630 Taastrup
Reporting to: Production & Operations Manager (Kalundborg)
Start date: 1 February 2026
