The Role 💼

We’re looking for a Lead UX Designer who can both design and lead teams. You’ll set the bar for product experience at Waitwhile — rolling up your sleeves on key flows while also helping other designers grow in their craft.

This role is a mix of hands-on design, research leadership, and team mentorship. You’ll guide how we discover user needs, shape our design system, and partner closely with product and engineering to ship work that feels simple and obvious to our users.

It’s a great fit if you like switching between strategy and detail — one day running usability tests with enterprise clients, the next day tightening a flow in Figma, the next helping a teammate frame their work for an exec review.

We’re building a design culture that is practical, curious, and a little bit obsessive about removing friction from the customer journey. You’ll play a key part in making that happen.

What you'll be doing 🚀

UX Strategy & Research

  • Lead discovery work: interviews, usability tests, and digging into product data.
  • Make sure insights are shared in a way that actually shapes product decisions, not just a research deck that gets filed away.
  • Help the team focus on the most important user problems — not just what’s loudest.

Team leadership & mentorship

  • Coach other designers with regular feedback and support.
  • Run critiques and workshops that raise the quality of everyone’s work.
  • Be the design perspective in cross-team strategy discussions, OKRs, and planning.

Design Execution & Direction

  • Own design for key features and end-to-end journeys, from rough sketches to polished UI.
  • Work closely with engineers so the final product feels as good as the prototype.
  • Keep Waitwhile's design system - QI - evolving and make sure accessibility and usability are always part of the process.

Design Operations & Systems

  • Improve how we review, document, and ship design work so it’s consistent and fast.
  • Partner with PMs and Eng leads to align priorities and keep delivery smooth.

What skills you need 📖

Experience

  • 8+ years in product/UX design with a strong track record of shipped web and mobile products.
  • Comfortable running the full design process — from research to prototypes to final handoff.
  • Strong portfolio that shows both craft (great UI/UX) and impact (how it moved the business or user experience forward).
  • Experienced in B2B or SaaS products.

Tools & methods

  • Expert in Figma (components, prototyping, design systems), or equivalent.
  • Proficient in planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional meetings, critiques, and workshops.
  • Familiarity with front-end basics and ability to partner closely with engineering.

Leadership Qualities

  • Experience mentoring or guiding other designers.
  • Strong communicator who can explain design decisions clearly to both designers and non-designers.
  • Comfortable leading workshops, critiques, and cross-team discussions.
  • More interested in building alignment than winning arguments.

Bonus Skills ✨

  • Experience in a fast-growing startup or taking products from 0 → 1.
  • Familiarity with tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Looker.
  • Service design or complex workflow design experience.
  • Curiosity about how AI can improve design or research work.

Benefits ❤️

  • A high-trust environment where design has a seat at the table.
  • The opportunity to shape design culture from the ground up at a fast-growing company with a product used by the world’s biggest brands
  • Competitive compensation - including health insurance, ITP pension, bike lease and more - and a strong, stable financial backer.
  • Remote-friendly culture, flexible work hours, and strong emphasis on well-being.
  • Beautiful bright office on Kungsgatan 32 in central Stockholm
