KAHU is an early-stage startup building a new layer of ocean visibility by crowdsourcing radar data from vessels into a global map of vessel activity. Our mission is to uncover dark fleets, protect marine ecosystems, and close critical maritime data gaps.
Until now, the tech has been led by a cofounder/early team member. We're now looking for a Technical Lead who can take ownership of the technical direction, grow the engineering team, and help shape the future of maritime intelligence. This role suits a builder with solid software engineering and startup experience, who will be comfortable working alongside marine radar manufacturers and vessel infrastructure integrators.
Lead technical development of our onboard software and vessel-to-cloud radar data platform including features and architecture
Integrate the onboard software and cloud platform with vessel radar systems and infrastructure
Build tools that turn raw radar data into actionable insights
Collaborate closely with the team, vessel partners, and early users
Expect to do more than just engineering - we’re early stage, and your input will shape everything from tech to direction
Strong experience in GIS programming and working with geospatial or maritime data pipelines
Familiarity with marine electronics, onboard connectivity, and vessel infrastructure (or willing/eager to learn)
Nice to have: comfort working across systems - from embedded devices to cloud
A hands-on, curious mindset and ability to build fast, think outside the box, and bring new ideas
We’re backed by Antler and Innovation Norway, and have launched early pilots - you’ll be joining at the ground floor, with the freedom to build your own vision, shape the tech, and influence the mission. Flexible schedule, no rigid playbook, the sky's the limit if you're all in.
Negotiable mix of salary and equity.
