Our Data and Analytics team is looking for a Data Engineer to help drive the development and evolution of our internal data infrastructure. As the company expands across multiple continents and grows its global customer base, the need for fast, data-driven decision-making is more important than ever.

This position focuses on generating initial insights, building solutions, and continuously improving systems that support decision-making across the company. The work provides direct value to internal development teams by simplifying access to and usage of data. This requires designing systems and interfaces, and ensuring they are implemented, maintained, and deployed effectively.

Due to a strict information security policy, the company does not use public cloud services. The work instead involves extensive self-hosting, on-premises infrastructure, and hands-on systems management. This role is well-suited for professionals who enjoy building and maintaining robust in-house solutions.

What will I be doing?

  • Take ownership of large-scale data initiatives and drive them independently
  • Define, improve, and teach standards for code maintainability, performance, and structure
  • Recommend and implement architectural improvements across the data platform
  • Lead and contribute to data pipeline design and implementation using best ETL/ELT practices
  • Collaborate effectively across teams and regularly align on shared solutions
  • Provide mentorship, share best practices, and participate in technical interviews to help grow the team

What skills do I need?

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience deploying production-quality code
  • Strong programming skills in Python (mandatory) and proficiency in Java or Scala for data processing
  • Deep understanding of SQL and analytical data warehouses (e.g. PostgreSQL)
  • Proven experience with data pipeline tools such as Dagster, Airflow, or similar
  • Solid data modeling capabilities and experience designing efficient data systems
  • Strong grasp of Git and collaborative software development workflows
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of cross-team alignment
  • A proactive mindset and passion for continuous learning and improvement
  • BSc or MSc in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Engineering, or similar

What can I expect from IQM?

  • An opportunity to work with a passionate and diverse team on an important mission
  • A unique opportunity to make a real impact on the future of quantum
  • Growth and progress in a creative and open start-up environment
