Since our founding in 2020, our dedicated team of engineers and Ph.D. researchers has been on a mission to revolutionize cloud and database management systems using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. 

DBtune's core technology is a fully automated service designed to optimize databases. Our optimizer, based on Artificial Intelligence, tailors each optimization to the specific customer workload and hardware in use. This approach leads to improved key performance indicators, making the process of database tuning more efficient and scalable across hundreds of instances. Databases remain one of the largest cost factors in modern software stacks. DBtune’s proprietary optimization technology enables customers to reduce those costs by up to 50%, dramatically expanding their operating margins and improving resource efficiency. We make databases twice as fast, save massive infrastructure  and operational costs, and reduce the environmental footprint of data management.

We have garnered support from institutional and angel investors in the EU and the US, along with pre-seed funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW). With a growing customer base, DBtune is poised to expand its influence even further, scaling our operations to bring AI-driven database optimization to a broader audience. We are seeing strong interest from hyperscalers, cloud service providers and large enterprise clients, including major players in the banking, car manufacturing and telecommunication industries, signaling the strategic importance of our technology at scale. In the last two years we have set up the distribution channel to reach and optimize 10% of the world PostgreSQL databases within a few years. 


Job overview 

We are looking for a Head of Sales to lead our growth efforts. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will be responsible for developing and executing our sales strategy, building a world-class sales team, and driving revenue growth.

As the Head of Sales, you will work closely with marketing and engineering to expand DBtune’s market presence, attract enterprise and mid-market customers, and establish scalable sales processes. You will play a crucial role in shaping our go-to-market strategy, optimizing sales operations, and positioning DBtune as the leading solution for AI-driven PostgreSQL tuning. You will report directly to the CEO. You will travel up to 30% of the time to meet clients and attend conferences.


Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to drive revenue and market adoption and consistently deliver on quota accountability (New, Upsell and Renewal).

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, focusing on enterprise and mid-market customers.

  • Closing deals yourself, this is not yet a pure manager role.

  • Build and lead a GTM team consisting of SDRs, AEs and partner managers in line with the achieving of the company's business plan. 

  • Work closely with marketing and product teams to refine positioning and messaging.

  • Establish and optimize sales processes, sales tools and lead an effective business rhythm to drive actions and insights against key performance indicators (revenue, pipeline, forecast and customer adoption).

  • Represent DBtune at industry events and conferences, building relationships with key decision-makers.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in sales leadership to Fortune 1000 accounts, preferably in B2B SaaS, cloud, or database technologies.

  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth and exceed targets.

  • Strong understanding of database and cloud technologies. 

  • Experience hiring, coaching, and scaling sales teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work with technical teams and translate complex solutions into business value.

  • Strong leadership skills that can rally a team to consistently execute at a high level.

  • Ability to present at industry conferences, webinars, and customer events.


Additional merits

  • Experience selling AI-driven, DevOps, or performance optimization solutions.

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Prior experience in a fast-growing startup deep-tech company.

  • Network in the database, cloud, or enterprise software industry.

  • Experience with partnerships, channel sales, or strategic alliances.

  • Knowledge of sales automation tools, CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot), and data-driven sales strategies.

Location

Location is flexible and exceptional EU-based candidates will be considered for remote work, however we prioritize in-office applications. The in-office position calls for regular attendance at our Malmö headquarters, providing ample opportunities for face-to-face interactions and collaboration with our team of 11. DBtune offers a flexible 2-day-a-week in-office policy. We're proud to be a part of the Minc startup incubator, which has hosted companies such as Neo4j, Polar Rose, Hövding, and Debricked.  

For candidates residing in Denmark, our compensation package is structured to acknowledge the elevated cost of living and ensure an appropriate salary adjustment. Furthermore, the implemented 2-day-a-week office policy offers a flexible and manageable work arrangement, making commuting to the office less burdensome.
