Salary Competitive

Are you a Health & Safety expert with hands-on experience in high-voltage environments—eager to build a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future through clean energy?

Fantastic—welcome to Alight! We’re an entrepreneurial Independent Power Producer (IPP) that develops, owns, constructs, and operates solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) systems across Europe. Our customers, lenders, and partners expect the highest standards—and we’re committed to meeting them at every stage.

As we scale across the Nordics and Europe, we're looking for a QHSE Manager who shares our commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.

Note: The core focus of this role is Health & Safety, but you’ll also work on environmental and quality-related topics that directly or indirectly impact site safety. This includes facilitating root cause analysis (e.g. investigating inverter failures), and ensuring waste handling on-site is both compliant and efficient.

Your impact

As QHSE Manager, you’ll lead the development and implementation of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (QHSE) systems across Alight’s growing portfolio of rooftop and utility-scale solar PV and BESS assets. From early procurement to construction and long-term operations, your role will be key in embedding a culture of safety, excellence, and accountability across everything we do.

You’ll ensure compliance with international standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and local regulations in multiple countries, while fostering a hands-on, proactive safety mindset across our teams and partners.

KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QHSE management systems tailored to solar PV and BESS operations, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and relevant local regulations across all countries of operation.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments focused on high-risk areas such as electrical hazards, working at height, and environmental impacts (e.g., soil erosion, wildlife interaction), adapting methods to the specific context of each site.
  • Lead audits, inspections, and incident investigations, including contractor compliance checks, root cause analysis, and corrective actions—ensuring lessons learned are embedded across projects and assets.
  • Monitor QHSE performance metrics and maintain accurate documentation and reporting to support internal reviews, audits, and regulatory inspections—offering actionable recommendations to leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with project teams, EPCs, and suppliers to embed QHSE principles throughout procurement, installation, commissioning, and operational phases—ensuring alignment with both local regulations and international best practices.
  • Deliver engaging training and awareness programs on solar-specific safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and environmental protection
  • Champion a proactive safety culture by promoting behavioral safety, employee engagement, and strong on-site leadership, ensuring QHSE is a visible, shared priority across the organization.

We’re looking for you

To be a great fit for this role, we believe you’ve done more than just maintain QHSE practices — you’ve helped build them. You know your ISO standards inside and out, but more importantly, you know how to translate them into practical, scalable processes that work across multiple countries and regulatory environments.

You understand the technical and operational realities of construction and energy systems, and you’re passionate about making them safer and more efficient.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in QHSE roles within renewable energy or other high-voltage environments, covering both construction and operational phases.
  • Proven experience in working with EPCs/contractors, including auditing and contracting processes.
  • Strong understanding of international Health and Safety standards and the ability to adapt practices across diverse regulatory environments and countries.
  • Certifications in QHSE disciplines (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required; Swedish is preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site at our central Stockholm office (hybrid-remote setup).
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites for audits and inspections.

Working at
Alight

At Alight, we’re on a mission to kick carbon off the grid by helping energy-intensive businesses switch to solar. We develop, own and operate onsite and offsite solar projects across Europe and sell the clean energy to businesses at a low, fixed cost backed by a power purchase agreement (PPA), always independent of government funding or subsidies. By 2030, we aim to have an installed capacity of at least 5 GW, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
