ESEBA is a deep tech startup from DTU developing a new kind of MDF board made entirely from 100% low quality textile waste, without any binders like formaldehyde, or stabilizers.

Recognized as one of Denmark’s top 10 climate startups, ESEBA partners with a state-of-the-art textile sorting facility and is piloting its solution with two of the country’s largest laminated tabletop manufacturers.

We’ve made strong progress, and now we’re looking for a Materials Scientist to help us take the material and process to the next level by addressing key development goals, including:

  • Scaling up lab tests to produce boards at commercial dimensions

  • Characterizing mechanical properties and performance

You’ll play a key role in:

  • Designing and running experiments on our pilot production line

  • Developing the material to meet industrial lamination standards

  • Collaborating closely with our CTO and CRO on process and material innovation

Who you are:

  • You have a background in materials science or a related field

  • You have experience with fibers, composites, or engineered board materials

  • You work systematically, are curious, and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Working at
ESEBA

ESEBA, a deep tech startup from DTU, transforms low-quality textile waste into MDF boards without binders or formaldehyde. We offer a sustainable, non-toxic alternative to traditional wood-based panels. Textile waste is a massive and growing problem in Europe – less than 1% is recycled into new products, and most ends up incinerated. At the same time, formaldehyde regulations are tightening, and deforestation pressures are increasing demand for alternatives to virgin wood. ESEBA’s mission is to enable local, circular board production through a scalable, plug-and-produce production line for furniture manufacturers.
