Gismap is an innovative NatureTech startup combining computer vision and GeoAI to transform how geospatial information (GIS data) is used for biodiversity conservation in the real estate and construction industries. Our SaaS platform enables companies to measure, monitor, and enhance biodiversity with unprecedented precision. By integrating advanced machine learning, geospatial analytics, and domain expertise in biodiversity, we help organizations meet regulatory requirements (e.g., CSRD and DGNB) while reducing their environmental footprint. At Gismap, we develop solutions such as biofactor assessments, urbanBioScore evaluations, green-corridor analyses, and biodiversity-projection models—all focused on sustainable strategies and technological innovation.
As a Django Backend Developer at Gismap, you will join a small, cross-functional team and play a key role in building and operating our platform. You will be responsible for designing and developing robust, scalable backend services that handle large geospatial datasets, integrate AI models into production environments, and deliver REST and MCP APIs for our frontend, integrations, and external partners. In parallel, you will help ensure stability, performance, and security in our cloud infrastructure (primarily GCP).
Backend Services & APIs Design, implement, and maintain Django-based backend services and API endpoints that are secure, performant, and well-documented.
AI/ML Integration Partner with our Data & ML team to productionize machine-learning models, ensuring reliable inference pipelines and model monitoring.
Geospatial Data Solutions Build and optimize geospatial data pipelines using PostgreSQL/PostGIS and industry-standard GIS tools.
Quality & Best Practices Enforce clean architecture, write comprehensive unit and integration tests, and uphold security and maintainability standards.
CI/CD Automation Configure and manage automated testing and deployment workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions), ensuring smooth, repeatable releases.
Monitoring & Performance Instrument, monitor, and fine-tune application performance and response times under real-world load conditions.
DevOps Collaboration Work alongside DevOps to containerize services (Docker) and deploy to Google Cloud Platform, contributing to infrastructure design.
Deployment & Infrastructure Own the end-to-end deployment process—from infrastructure provisioning (IaC) to rollout strategies, rollback plans, and environment management.
