Job description

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurially-minded Technical Delivery Director & Product Owner to join our team. In this role, you will lead the development of innovative digital platforms helping to shape a scalable, multi-platform ecosystem.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position that blends software architecture, active development, and product ownership. You’ll be responsible for translating product strategy into technical deliverables, maintaining direct coding responsibilities, and driving on-time delivery in collaboration with a team of developer-product managers.


Technical Architecture & Development 

  • Design and implement scalable distributed system architectures using Rust microservices 

  • Lead hands-on development in either DLT frameworks with smart contracts or advanced database systems 

  • Architect solutions based on your specialisation: blockchain/smart contract systems or high-performance database architectures 

  • Code review and mentor development teams on technical best practices within your area of expertise 

  • Maintain active contribution to the codebase across backend services and your specialisation area 

 Product Strategy & Technical Translation 

  • Translate high-level product strategy into detailed technical specifications and architectural decisions 

  • Define and execute technical product roadmaps aligned with business objectives and market needs 

  • Collaborate directly with CEO on technical feasibility and implementation timelines 

  • Transform market opportunities into technical requirements and actionable development plans 

  • Balance technical debt, innovation, and delivery commitments 

Technical Delivery Leadership 

  • Own end-to-end technical delivery processes from architecture to production deployment 

  • Establish technical standards, coding practices, and delivery methodologies 

  • Ensure consistent technical excellence across all product touchpoints 

  • Lead technical initiatives that inform product decisions and optimise development processes 

  • Manage technical risks and dependencies across distributed development teams 

 Developer-Product Manager Coordination 

  • Lead and coordinate senior developers who also serve as product managers 

  • Establish clear communication channels between technical teams and stakeholder requirements 

  • Define technical acceptance criteria and quality gates for feature delivery 

  • Facilitate technical decision-making processes across development teams 

  • Ensure alignment between technical implementation and product vision 

 

Required Technical Qualifications 

Core Technical Skills 

  • 8+ years senior software development experience with demonstrable architectural leadership 

  • Expert-level Rust proficiency with production experience in web microservices (Tokio, Axum, Actix-web, SQLx, Diesel) 

  • RESTful API and GraphQL design and implementation 

  • Containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable deployment 

  • PostgreSQL experience in web microservices context 


Required Specialisation (Must Have ONE of the Following) 

Path A: DLT/Rust Expertise 

  • 4+ years blockchain/DLT development experience including smart contract development in Solidity 

  • Experience with Hedera EVM or similar EVM-based smart contract systems 

  • Decentralised identity management solutions using W3C DIDs and Verifiable Credentials 

  • Tokenisation and wallet functionalities implementation 

  • Understanding of distributed ledger technologies and decentralised applications 

Path B: Database/Rust Expertise 

  • 5+ years database architecture experience with PostgreSQL and TimeScaleDB 

  • Advanced database system design for high-throughput, scalable applications 

  • Time-series data management, analytics, and visualisation expertise 

  • Complex data pipeline architecture for ingesting and processing data from various sources 

  • Database performance optimisation including schema design, indexing, and query tuning 

 Leadership & Communication 

  • Proven track record of leading technical teams whilst maintaining hands-on development 

  • Experience translating business requirements into technical architectures 

  • Strong mentoring and code review capabilities 

  • Excellent stakeholder communication and technical presentation skills 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience 

  • Startup experience in scaling technical products from concept to market 

  • Previous experience as both a senior developer and product owner 

  • Open-source contributions in Rust, blockchain, or database technologies 

  • Speaking engagements or published works in technical architecture or DLT development 

  • Agile/Lean methodologies experience in technical product development
