We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to join us on our journey to bring people and democracy closer together.
As our next Tech Lead, you will be part of a small, globally distributed startup team navigating the complex waters of civic tech, with a focus on U.S. policy-making. In this position, you’ll be responsible for coordinating between product development and the rest of the team in both directions: communicate what’s going on on the product end to everyone else, while incorporating user and customer feedback relayed by our commercial team into product development. You will also shape the product roadmap with our CEO and product designer, and identify competency gaps and hiring needs with our operations person.
The salary for this position is open to negotiation. We’ll be honest with you though. As a young startup in a complex market, we can’t offer a competitive salary right now. We’ll need your capable hands to get there. For your hard work, we offer attractive equity options.
Additionally, growing this role into a CTO position is an open possibility.
You’re an experienced full-stack developer with a track record of completed and shipped commercial projects
You’re excited about creative ways of modelling data and invested in handling data securely
You’re open-minded and have an inclusive and clear communication style. You have no problem breaking down and explaining complex technical concepts to lay people around you to facilitate collaboration
You’re enthusiastic about giving lay citizens an informed say in U.S. policy decision-making
You’re interested in being part of our startup journey
Bonus, but not a must-have:
Experience programming in Go
People management experience
At Clause Out we know that it’s impossible to make good decisions, when policy makers are out of touch with real life consequences (which didn’t start with the current administration). We’re building a platform to bring people and policy closer together again.
We’re a small but globally distributed team running on caffeine, cinnamon rolls and our love for a good debate (for better and for worse). We’re also aware that we’re navigating an extremely complex landscape with our project, which can be taxing emotionally and mentally, so we also put great value on supporting and taking care of each other.
We chose Denmark as our founding hub for a reason, too. We strive to build a Nordic workplace where we respect our life and commitments outside of work. You can contribute from wherever you want, and at the times that work best for you as long as we can coordinate as a team.
To apply, please submit your CV and answer some questions briefly.
After this, we’ll try to keep it short and sweet with three to four rounds of interviews, where we can clarify things about culture, your technical background (without lengthy case tests…) and you can meet the team you’ll be working with. If after all this we’re still on the same page about wanting to work together, we will discuss compensation and work set-up.
