Commercial Intern to Wearables Startup

Salary Unpaid

Hi there. We are dQmetrics, and we are looking for a commercial intern who can take our commercial efforts to the next level.

In dQmetrics, we are developing a wearable wristband that can automatically track the calories consumed—no manual meal logging required. Our goal is to make lasting weight change possible for slightly obese individuals. We have working prototypes, and we’ve validated that our tech works in controlled settings. We are on the cusp of completing our next version of the prototype. This version will be used for actual user tests.

With the new prototype in place, and as we get closer to market, we will ramp up our commercial efforts: building a customer waitlist, testing various distribution channels, and pursuing partnerships with nutrition platforms and weight loss clinics. You’ll drive these commercial efforts, taking the lead on tasks while receiving support and close collaboration from our CEO.

The internship is expected to run for 6 months, and it is unpaid. The position is full-time and fully remote. We are actively fundraising, and if we successfully raise a round during your internship, you will receive a small salary.

What’s in it for you?

  • Real Impact on People’s Lives Your work will help people living with obesity access a transformative wearable product, directly helping more people discover and benefit from it.

  • Hands-On Experience with Go-to-Market Strategy You will be involved in developing and executing go-to-market strategies and learning how to connect a cutting-edge product with real customer needs. You will see the entire process of taking a product from concept to market adoption.

  • Ownership and Influence on the Commercial Roadmap You’ll shape and influence the company’s commercial approach. You’ll identify target segments, refine customer journeys, propose new distribution channels, and actively own parts of the business roadmap.

  • Collaborative Culture Thrive in a team that cares. Our environment is built on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared passion for innovation.

  • Multidisciplinary Team Being in the wearable space, you’ll work at the intersection of Business, Hardware, Software, Machine Learning, and the Health Sciences.

About the role:

As our Commercial Intern, your first mission will be to help us build and grow our waitlist—a critical step in bringing our wearable product to market. You’ll experiment with different outreach methods, run landing page tests, and gather insights on what resonates most with our target audience.

Rather than simply “following directions,” you’ll be expected to propose ideas, execute experiments, measure results, and iterate based on real data. You’ll explore both digital and offline channels to identify the most efficient ways to reach potential customers. In doing so, you’ll learn the foundations of go-to-market strategy—from shaping messaging and positioning to assessing the viability of various distribution channels.

You won’t do this alone. You’ll collaborate closely with our cross-functional team and our CEO, gaining a deeper understanding of how different parts of the company come together to create a great product experience.

We can’t guarantee a permanent position at the end of the internship, but if we find we’re a great match for each other, we’d love for you to continue growing with us.

Preferred Skills

  • Creative Problem-Solving: Able to come up with fresh ideas for outreach campaigns and propose new ways to connect with potential customers.

  • Proactive Attitude: Eager to take ownership, propose new experiments, and learn from both successes and failures.

  • Team Player & Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Works well with people from diverse backgrounds and adapts communication style to different audiences.
