Qpaws is a VC-backed early-stage startup rebuilding a beloved dog sports tracking app with fresh energy and global ambition.
Over the past four months, we’ve reignited the project with a strong social-network focus, rebuilt momentum, and reconnected with our passionate community.
Now, we’re gearing up for rapid growth — and we’re looking for an ambitious, product-minded React Native developer eager to help us push even further.
You’ll have a critical role on a small, hands-on team. You’ll work deep in the product: building, testing, refining, and shipping features that genuinely matter to our community.
You’ll be trusted with autonomy, encouraged to ship quickly, iterate smartly, and constantly explore new ideas — while staying connected to the team when needed.
Cares about delivering great UX/UI and best-in-class mobile experiences — not just “functional” apps.
Is highly proficient in React Native, and stays current with the latest libraries, tools, and best practices (e.g. animations, navigation, gestures, haptics, push notifications, auth, charts, calendars, forms, maps).
Feels at home with TypeScript — as the rest of our stack is being migrated to it (monorepo with: mobile, API server, web app, DB toolkit & infra management).
Can work independently and responsibly, shipping features according to priority while keeping solutions lean and adaptable.
Thrives on challenges and treats them as growth opportunities — and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. You’ll be part of the discussion.
Knows some (or all?) of these keywords: TanStack, Zod, tRPC, Bun, Postgres, Docker, Figma, Drizzle, Expo, Monorepo, LocalFirst. (Mention which ones when applying!)
Knows how to leverage today's AI assistant like Copilot, Cursor or Windsurf to let you focus on the critical coding parts (mostly used as a fancy auto-complete or for quick exploratory work)
Feels like it’s time to show our non-mobile-dev CTO what a modern mobile app should look like 😉 (We’ll help you make it happen!)
Wants to join early in an exciting journey to rebuild and scale a beloved product to a worldwide audience.
Feels comfortable working on a project with some legacy code — understanding that while things are being refreshed, there’s still some history under the hood.
Real momentum: We already have a passionate community and a solid foundation to grow from. Growing team with talented people.
Creative ownership: Shape the product, influence design and user experience, and leave your mark.
Startup energy: Small, agile team where your impact will be visible every day.
Tight collaboration: Work closely with our CTO (full-stack), CEO, and other team members.
Flexible setup: Remote-friendly with strong support, autonomy, and opportunities to meet in person when it makes sense.
True adventure: Be part of building something meaningful — for users, dogs, businesses, associations, events, and beyond.
Co-founder potential: A clear path to grow into a key leadership role as the company scales.
Qpaws is quickly becoming a leading software-first social activity platform for dog owners—often referred to as the "Strava for dogs." With over 32,000 dogs registered, we’re continuously refining our product to provide the best solution for tracking and managing dogs’ activities, health, and care. Our goal is to make Qpaws the go-to app for active dog owners worldwide, and we are preparing for international mass adoption.
Our head office is in Oslo, Norway, and we’re starting to build a strong, creative environment around our space here.
If you’re based in or near the city, that’s a big plus — we’d love to have you be part of the office culture as we grow the team.
If not, no worries — we’ll still gather the core team in Oslo from time to time, and we’re open to flexible setups: remote, hybrid, or a mix.
