About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grant Writing Intern to support nabo and its mission as it shifts to a non-profit model, relying on grants for financial support. This intern will play a vital role in identifying strategic funding opportunities, crafting compelling applications, and guiding narrative development that aligns with nabo’s social impact goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Strategy

    • Identify and research grant-making foundations, government programs, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and philanthropic organizations that align with nabo’s mission and stage of development.

    • Monitor and track relevant open calls for grant applications, noting deadlines and eligibility requirements.

    • Evaluate potential funders for mission alignment and sustainability of partnership opportunities.

  • Grant Writing & Submission

    • Draft clear, persuasive, and tailored grant applications, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.

    • Collaborate with the nabo team to revise and refine proposals before submission.

    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant materials, in compliance with funder guidelines.

  • Narrative Development

    • Offer insights and recommendations on narrative and storytelling strategy, ensuring consistency with nabo’s values and voice.

    • Contribute to the strategic framing of nabo’s social impact in relation to funder priorities.

    • Provide guidance on the potential benefits and risks of proposed partnerships or funding relationships.

  • Reporting & Documentation

    • Maintain an organized system for tracking submissions, deadlines, requirements, and outcomes.

    • Assist in drafting interim and final reports for funded projects, as needed.


Qualifications

  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.

  • Interest in social impact, nonprofit development, or international community-building.

  • Experience with or strong interest in grant writing, philanthropy, or donor communications.

  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of working independently.

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex ideas with clarity and purpose.

  • Familiarity with online collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Notion, Airtable) is a plus.

  • Experience in strategic communications, fundraising, or nonprofit storytelling is desirable but not required.
