ABchar is developing a new type of bioheat system that combines heat production with carbon storage. Our goal is to give farmers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels while actively capturing carbon in the soil, through biochar.
We're now looking for a mechanical engineer passionate about green technology and hands-on problem solving - not as a traditional employee, but as a co-founder or early contributor who believes in the project and wants to help bring it to life. You'll work closely with our CTO, Carl Aschjem, and play a key role in the product's development.
We’re not offering a salary at this stage, but we do offer:
Ownership shares in the company
Freedom and flexibility (workload adapted to your availability), either with us in Trøgstad or remotely
The opportunity to be involved in everything from prototyping to testing
A chance to build technology that can make a difference in Norwegian and global agriculture
A solution backed by Innovation Norway and supported by a strong network
Contribute to the development and testing of the next prototype of our bioheat system
Take part in selecting components, and designing and constructing the burner and pyrolysis reactor
Follow up on production and assembly, troubleshoot during pilot testing and operation
Play a central role in shaping the technical development and production strategy of the product
We’re looking for someone who:
Has a background in mechanical engineering, product development, energy and process technology, or similar fields
Is curious about bioheat and sustainable innovation
Enjoys working in a role that blends theory and practice, and wants to build something – not just draw it
Wants to help shape a growing company from the ground up
This job comes with several perks and benefits
