We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help empower students and young people in Denmark to minimize food waste while addressing financial constraints. Through hands-on workshops, we teach practical ways to transform surplus food into nutritious, sustainable meals.
Sustainability Advocates is a dynamic program based at Station in Copenhagen, dedicated to empowering students and young professionals to become leaders in sustainability. Through hands-on projects and educational initiatives, we focus on critical topics such as biodiversity, climate action and sustainability, inspiring our community to take meaningful action for a better future.
Green Bites combines education, creativity, and collaboration to reduce food waste while promoting financial and environmental sustainability. We partner with key organizations to maximize impact, offering two interactive workshops hosted in collaboration with Station Community.
Objectives:
Educate students and young people on the environmental and social impact of food waste.
Provide practical skills to turn surplus or leftover food into healthy, affordable meals.
Foster a community around sustainability and resourcefulness.
Leverage partnerships to make surplus food easily accessible and create a sustainable loop.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about sustainability, food waste reduction, and community engagement and enjoy collaborating with a team to bring projects to life. If you’re a student in your final year or a recent graduate looking to grow your skills and network while contributing to a meaningful cause, we’d love to hear from you!
We imagine your contributions within the following roles, but we are open to ideas and encourage you to take initiative and step up!
1. Project Coordinators (2-3 Volunteers)
Oversee project execution and timeline.
Manage communication with partners.
Handle logistics and materials for the workshops.
Strong organizational and communication skills are essential to oversee project execution and manage partner relations.
2. Workshop Facilitators (3-4 Volunteers)
Coordinate with food suppliers for picking up surplus food boxes, while ensuring food safety and proper handling.
Assist with meal planning and preparation.
Guide volunteers and participants during workshops.
Share insights on sustainability and food waste reduction.
Assist with cleaning up after workshops.
Prior experience in food preparation, sustainability, or education is preferred, though a strong passion for these areas is equally valued. Experience in leading groups or facilitating events is an advantage. Willingness to develop public speaking skills is also encouraged.
3. Social Media Volunteer (1-2 Volunteer)
Document and share project updates on social media.
Engage with the online community and promote sustainability awareness.
Create content that highlights our mission and impact.
Coordinate with the Sustainability Advocates SoMe team to build our presence on our digital platforms.
Experience in content creation, social media management, and digital storytelling is highly valued.
This is more than just a volunteer opportunity—it’s a chance to be part of a movement tackling food waste and sustainability while engaging with a passionate community. You will develop practical skills, build valuable connections, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
Duration: Start March, committing until June.
Location: Copenhagen (volunteers must be based in or near the city)
Commitment: Flexible, but active participation in planning and workshops is expected.
Volunteer Basis: This is an unpaid role, but offers valuable experience and professional growth in sustainability and project management.
