Our Information Security (InfoSec) and Software/Cloud Security teams collaborate to develop and maintain a secure environment that protects our systems, data, and users. Together, these teams take responsibility for the security of the entire internal organization.

We focus on holistic operational security, proactive threat detection, incident response, and security architecture, striving for a culture of security by default. Our long-term vision is to build a scalable and sustainable security infrastructure, with security embedded by design into all systems and processes.

The team is led by John Arild Amdahl Johansen, our CISO, with two primary areas of focus: InfoSec and CloudSec which work in parallel, collaborating closely with other security resources across the cloud software team and the broader organization.

About the role

As the Security Advisor, your overarching objective will be to assist in establishing standard security blueprints for reMarkable, ensuring secure-by-design principles. You will also own and implement the network security stack and help guide us towards ISO27001 certification and other relevant industry standards.

In this role, you will be pivotal in shaping our network strategy, managing the implementation of cutting-edge concepts like zero-trust networks, software-defined perimeters, and edge networks. You’ll be involved in the selection and implementation of a SASE tool to segment our infrastructure, contributing to our broader security and company strategy. Your role is crucial for maintaining seamless, secure operations with no downtime.

Main responsibilities

• Network Security: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on network security technologies and practices, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), cloud Network (VPC, SDN, VNFs, load balancer etc..) and network micro-segmentation.
• Security Design and Architecture: Work closely with engineering and architecture teams to design and implement secure infrastructure and systems, e.g. SIEM, that meet organizational security requirements.
• Threat Modeling: Perform threat modeling, attack surface analysis, and risk assessments to ensure proactive security measures are in place.
• Advisory and Consultancy: Provide cybersecurity guidance and advisory services across various security domains (e.g., network security, cloud security, identity management, application security) to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Incident Response: Collaborate with incident response teams to investigate security incidents, analyze root causes, and implement preventive measures.

We are looking for the following experience

• Hands-on experience in IT and network operational security.
• Understanding of cloud computing and modern network architectures (OSI layers).
• Experience working with network security tools and implementing zero-trust network segmentation on major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expertise in security design and architecture for systems and applications.

Nice-to-Have

• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO27001, CIS Controls, and GDPR.
• Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CCNP.
