🚀About DanSTAR

DanSTAR is a purely student-run organization pushing the boundaries of what a student association can achieve. With two successful rocket missions, a world record of 6.5 km apogee, and our latest project, FĐľrnax, set to launch at the European Rocketry Challenge in October 2025, we are seeking exceptional talent to help us succeed.

We are a diverse team of students from DTU, CBS, ITU, and beyond, united by a shared passion for rocketry. Our work spans everything from designing advanced propulsion systems to raising funds and managing stakeholder relations.

Our mission is to build scalable, reusable, bi-liquid rockets capable of full flight and recovery. With high ambitions come high expectations, and we are committed to fostering the best talent to achieve our goals.

DanSTAR alumni have gone on to work at ESA, SpaceX, Orbex, and even founded their own space propulsion startups.


🦾 Department of Develоpment (Engineering)

Dive into hands-on engineering and technical challenges! Our Development Department is responsible for designing, building, and testing every component of our rockets. Teams include:

  • Embedded Software: Build and test flight computers, protocols, and state machines.

  • Mission Control: Development of UI/UX, ensure mission-critical software operates smoothly, and test/launch operations.

  • Propulsion: Develop, test, and optimize fluid systems, fuel compositions, and combustion systems.

  • Structures: Design structural systems, CAD models, and prototypes that withstand the extreme forces of flight.

  • Avionics: In-house build computer, and development of rocket sensors, electronics, and telemetry systems.

👀 What We’re Looking For

We value curiosity and a willingness to learn above all else. Whether you’re an engineering enthusiast or an aspiring leader, we want you on board. Here’s what you’ll need:

— Requirements:

  • You are based in the Copenhagen area.

  • Have at least 1 year left of your studies (Student sabbaticals is accepted. For post-graduates, see Q&A below).

  • A passion for rocketry, engineering, or organizational development.

  • Commitment to +10 hours/week (flexible around exams and deadlines).

  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to solve problems fast.

Is it required to work on-site?

  • Yes, we currently require members to be on-site and do not accept fully remote members.

Are all roles at DanSTAR voluntary?

  • Yes, DanSTAR is a non-profit student association entirely run by students. As such, no monetary compensation is provided—only valuable hands-on experience.

Can I write my master’s thesis in collaboration with DanSTAR?

  • Yes, we welcome students who wish to write their thesis while contributing to DanSTAR.

I’m already a graduate. Can I still join?

  • Yes, we allow individuals to join or remain with DanSTAR for up to a year after graduation. However, job searches after graduation can impact the predictability of future planning, so we assess this on a case-by-case basis.

Is this an internship?

  • No. DanSTAR is a volunteer-based student organization and do not offer formal internships.

I am available for limited time/months. Can I still join?

  • It depends. We prefer members who commit at least a year. Our experience has shown that the onboarding process and subsequent knowledge transfer make shorter commitments unfeasible. However, we assess exchange students on a case-by-case basis.

Do you provide assistance with relocation and accommodation?

  • No, we do not offer support for relocation or accommodation.
