Upper Plate is creating an AI-powered web app that empowers restaurants to combat food waste by transforming kitchen side streams into sustainable menu items. By unlocking the hidden potential of food waste through fermentation, restaurants can boost efficiency, reduce their carbon footprint, and turn waste into value.

Role Overview

As the CTO / Co-Founder of Upper Plate, you’ll be at the forefront of our technology vision, driving the development of our AI-powered platform from the ground up. Working closely with the founding team, you’ll not only lead the development of the platform but also help shape the overall strategy and direction of the company. This is a hands-on role with big potential to grow as we scale. You’ll be crucial to making our mission a reality and turning waste into opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Development: Lead the end-to-end development of the Upper Plate platform, from architecture design to deployment, bringing our AI-driven upcycling tool to life.

• Technology Strategy: Create and execute a tech roadmap that aligns with our mission—building a scalable, efficient platform that grows alongside our customers.

• Innovation & AI Integration: Collaborate with the team to continuously improve and integrate new AI features like smart recipe suggestions and waste tracking.

• Scalability: Architect the platform with the future in mind, making sure it can support the growing needs of restaurants around the world.

• Co-Founder Collaboration: Work closely with the founding team on business strategy, product innovation, and market expansion to align tech with our business goals.

Requirements

• Background: Whether you’re a seasoned CTO, engineering lead, or full stack developer, we’re looking for someone who’s excited about building products from scratch.

• Tech Skills: Strong in software development, AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, and scalable architectures.

• Leadership: Ability to lead development now and transition into a leadership role as we grow.

• Entrepreneurial Spirit: A self-starter with a startup mindset, problem-solver, adaptable, and resourceful.
