Maria 01 is one of the most relevant startup ecosystem players in the Nordic region. Located in a beautiful old hospital in central Helsinki, Maria 01 houses close to 200 startups, 25 venture capital funds, and other ecosystem supporters, with around 1,500 people working full-time on our campus. 

As an international community, Maria 01 was awarded the Internationalisation Prize by the President of the Republic of Finland in 2021. We operate as a community-driven, not-for-profit organisation co-owned by the Startup Foundation, Helsinki Enterprise Agency, and the City of Helsinki.


Position Overview

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Sales Manager to join our team full-time. This role is crucial for driving new business across our three main product categories: selling partnerships and events, and acquiring new members. If you’re interested in the startup ecosystem, eager to expand your network, and looking to sharpen your sales skills, this opportunity is perfect for you.

While this role is highly independent, you’ll be part of a close-knit three-person team. You will be supported by two Partnership Managers, who will assist in account management, allowing you to focus on generating new business and closing deals. You'll report directly to the CEO and work closely together with her. This position requires onsite work from our campus in the centre of Helsinki.


What You’ll Do:

  • Generate New Business: Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities internationally, secure event bookings, and attract new members to the Maria 01 community.

  • Drive Sales: Engage with potential clients, manage relationships, and close deals across our product categories.

  • Cold Contacting: Don’t shy away from reaching out to potential leads—whether it’s through calls, emails, or meetings.

  • Network Building: Leverage and expand your network within the startup ecosystem, connecting with key players and staying ahead of industry trends.

  • Collaborate with a Supportive Team: Work closely with two Partnership Managers who will assist with account management, ensuring that your focus remains on business development.

  • Work together with the whole Maria 01 team: We're a small team and help each other - sometimes this might mean carrying chairs or hosting events.

Qualifications:

  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude with a strong drive to succeed in sales.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Strong interest in startups, entrepreneurship, and the broader tech ecosystem.

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Finnish is not required.
