Do you want to help the world EV better?

We are on the lookout for a talented Engineering Manager to join our Financial Services team.

Is this you?

As an Engineering Manager at Monta, you will lead our Billing division responsible for invoicing, receipts, bookkeeping, plans and subscriptions.

Who are we?

Monta’s powerful SaaS platform connects the dots in the entire EV charging ecosystem. As a B2B2C company with an engineering-driven culture, and engineers comprising one-third of our team, we offer comprehensive, tailored software solutions for drivers, businesses, and industry partners.

What’s our mission?

We aim to make EV charging simple, accessible, and reliable. Our software ensures a consistent experience across all charge point brands, empowering owners with a seamless solution

What else should you know?

We've just closed a massive 80M EUR Series B round, propelling us toward revolutionizing the EV charging experience. Our growth has soared, with nearly a million monthly charging sessions and 1,000 EV drivers joining us daily. We'll use this funding to enhance our software-only strategy, expand into new markets, and improve our product for an electrified future ⚡

Tools and technologies you’ll use

You’ll be working with a fairly modern stack, and while we don't expect you to know everything about it, you should be comfortable learning new tech. Our tools include Kotlin (Java 17 and closely following updates), Micronaut (microservice framework), Dart and Flutter, Typescript and ReactJS, AWS Cloud, Docker, GitOps, Kubernetes, MySQL/Redis (database), Prometheus (monitoring), Grafana (dashboard/metrics), Loki (logging), and more!

Here are some things you’ll be working on:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers in Financial Services, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Oversee the development lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of software projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.
  • Implement and follow best practices for software development, including code reviews, testing, monitoring, alerting and continuous integration while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.

Here’s what you’ll achieve:

It’s not just what you do – how your work impacts our products and processes is also important to us. And your problem-solving expertise combined with innovation and out-of-the box thinking won’t just help us, it’ll (hopefully) also increase your professional growth and job satisfaction.

  • Measuring monitoring and reducing billing errors
  • Hiring a team of high performing engineers
  • Setting the technical and product direction for our billing products
  • Shipping a best in class invoicing product

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

Build out the Billing team under the Financial Services organization. This team is responsible for the system that drives the collection of a large portion of the revenue for Monta. You will be hiring, mentoring and growing a team of engineers as well as directly contributing to the improvement of the products within the Billing division. This includes setting the direction for the team and working closely with the Product team to come up with best in class billing solutions.

To do this, we imagine you to have the following experience:

  1. Experience in Fintech, Banking or similar field, preferably experience with building and issuing invoices or receipts
  2. Experience managing software engineers and growing teams or working in a lead software development role
  3. 5+ years working experience as a software developer

(Do you fit most of these requirements, but not all? That’s fine: we’d love to hear from you all the same!)

What will you get?

  • Take part in our Engineering Team team’s monthly meetup, where you can share your knowledge and discuss best practices
  • Take part in our Engineering team’s Friday Tech Innovation day and spend it putting your technical skills to the test
  • Come to our three company-wide events held each year (including an inspiring three-day summit 🎉) as well as our other team events – virtually or in person
  • Share Monta’s success through our generous warrant program
  • Relax and unwind during your 30 paid vacation days (five weeks + five top-up days)
  • Use your personal learning budget and take some time off for your personal/professional development
  • Hop in our shared company car (or hop on an electric bike) in our bigger offices
  • Stay fit with your subsidized gym membership
  • Never go hungry (or thirsty) again with the free snacks & beverages at our office
  • Enjoy your subsidized plant-based lunches at our offices
  • Prepare for the future with your pension and health insurance accounts
  • Spend time with your family during your paid parental leave

At Monta we foster a dynamic, on-site environment where innovation thrives and teamwork is strengthened. We recognise the importance of work-life balance where flexibility is supported and encouraged provided that it aligns with your responsibilities and the needs of your team.

Working at
Monta

Monta is the operating platform powering the EV charging ecosystem serving drivers, companies, cities, and the electricity grid with one integrated software solution. We believe that accelerating and democratising the adoption of EV technology is key to building a better future. Monta’s mission is to provide the best technology solutions for the entire EV charging cycle. At our core, we provide access, innovation, and reliability to the mobility transformation. We're here to make the transition to electric mobility as seamless and exciting as possible. With a single integrated software built to EV better. Founded in 2020 our team has been growing fast and are now more than 200 employees with 47 different nationalities. Our HQ is based in Copenhagen, and we have offices in Oslo, Berlin, Paris, London and just opened Barcelona. Our culture is based on trust, transparency, and respect, where everyone contributes to making Monta what it is. You don't have to work 9-17, we trust our people to know how they work best. We empower each team to choose how and when they work. Inclusion is also a big part of our culture, and we make sure that everybody feels welcome, heard and able to bring all of who they are to work. We take it upon ourselves to protect this space that has allowed us to get this far. Monta is dedicated to encouraging a supportive, diverse and inclusive culture amongst all Monteers as they are fundamental to our values as a company. One of the best things about Monta is our people. Right from the get-go you will feel how inclusive, diverse, sociable and friendly our team is. We go to the office as much as possible, not because we have to, but because we enjoy each other's company - even outside work hours we hang out together. We have lots of different clubs you can join, there's a chess club, a ski club, (there's a slack channel for every little interest we can bond over). Everyone is very passionate about what we do and invested in the product and their role. We are a team of innovators, experts, and “bar-setters” in our fields. We believe that we can create the path needed to sustainably scale the industry towards the future. We're biased toward action, so we're always looking for ways to improve and make things work for many, not just few. We don't just want to be good at what we do—we want to be the best at it. Better results, better technology, better systems, better together. The combination of all this, and the feeling that we are contributing something great to the world, gives everyone a strong sense of belonging and makes our employees and customers want to work with us - it helps our company thrive. Everyone here is proud to be a 'Monteer'. If you’d like to work in a green, tech-driven company and are passionate about innovation, we might be the right fit! We've got an incredible team, and hope to find more peers who can help us push things even further.
