What we're looking for

We seek a seasoned professional with vast experience building and maintaining data centers on both the physical and software levels. Your primary tasks would involve sourcing the hardware at the best possible price points, configuring optimal machinery and respective parts for the intended use case, building the machines, and repairing them. You have worked with hosting and/or colocation providers and can manage negotiations. You have previously automated server management and have experience in sysadmin networking and routing.

Experience with the ASN reservation process, running BGP, or configuring CNI on the K8s cluster are all beneficial. Furthermore, understanding and prior work experience with blockchains is also helpful.

Ideally, you'd be living either in Sweden, Finland, or Iceland so that you could easily visit the data center if needed. (in the Nordics.)


Responsibilities

  • Hosting

    • Server configuration

    • Server installation/repair in DC (on-site)

    • Hardware sourcing

  • Server management

    • Automating server management (Ansible, Salt Stack, Puppet or Chef)

    • Overseeing netboot and automated Linux installation (Kickstart)

  • Networking

    • Physical wiring

    • Router/Switch configuration

    • Server network configuration.

    • Networking problem diagnostics

  • Containers (Container networking)

    • Docker / Podman

    • Kubernetes


Qualifications

  • 5+ of work experience with data centers

  • Capability to manage all operations related to running a functional data center.

  • Ability to travel/relocate onsite when needed

  • Ability to proactively identify issues and find possible solutions

  • Fluent and active communication skills in English


Preferred Skills

  • Experience and interest in distributed systems, P2P networking, virtualization, and unikernels

  • Curiosity for blockchain/cybersecurity

  • Familiarity with Linux internals, POSIX standards, file systems, and zero-knowledge cryptography
